Imma watching clips and commentary from the trial of the decade and I just had to share this with y'all. Watch him greeting supporters before seeing the person on the computer screen. LOL.
The trial is like a microcosm of a lot of things rn...
At the time of the UK trial I listened to some of the audio recordings that were made available to the public. They showed me which spouse was the abuser and which one is the survivor.
The only time I use the term "victim" instead of survivor is if the person did not survive. We who have survived domestic abuse should hold our heads high and respect our ability to survive and in time, thrive, in spite of what abusers tried to do.
It took me a long time to understand domestic abuse, whether it occurs alongside addiction or not. (I have survived both kinds.) I didn't have the resources AH had.
She is clearly intelligent. She was capable of understanding her options as the spouse of an addict.
Her account of her responses to JD's ongoing substance abuse belie her true feelings toward him then, and now.
She lacked the emotional maturity and sense to seek and listen to professional advice on the do-s and don'ts of being with an addict. This is basic stuff.
Her blatantly dishonest conduct on the stand exposes her disrespect for the jury, everyone else in the room, and the public. We have seen a tiny bit of what it would be like to be married to her. Can you imagine? Geez. JD is lucky to have survived her careless disregard for him.

"They were a nation of anxious people and they could do nothing individually, so they went mad en masse." A line from a 1983 play, about Japanese authoritarianism in 1942 (see thread.)
The above photo was taken at a May 6 T**** rally in rural PA for Turkish-American & longtime NJ resident "Dr" Mehmet Oz. I chose it bc such rallies were never held in county showgrounds with mud-covered fields & a rain-soaked Dear Leader.
Civilized venues have banned Cult 45.
Yes, Mehmet Oz is a legitimately qualified medical doctor. A cardiac surgeon, in fact. Which makes it all the more striking that he'd disregard the significant cardio-respiratory nature of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), first publicized globally in 2003 & then in 2020.
People with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) are everywhere & we must ALL sharpen up to protect ourselves & those we love.
Be a Camille Vasquez with them. "No" is a valid response at any time.
If this jury doesn't find in favor of domestic abuse survivor Johnny Depp then they will have fallen under the spell of a blatantly obvious NPD, manipulator, and liar (pardon the redundancy there.)
Observe the way she addresses the jury, not the questioner. All the time.
That is a huge tell and I am confident the jurors will be able to see through it.
The only effective way to provide testimony in court is to address the person asking you the question or speaking to you. Because it shows good faith, and appropriate adult behavior.
Thread: Why you should consider moving to New Zealand, esp. if you are an American and a "skilled worker."
When a country needs skilled workers, they will bend over backwards to attract them. It becomes a seller's market. Your skills become more valuable, in dollar terms.
These eternal economic laws are primarily what cause the push-pull factors of international migration. Sure, there are personal, familial, and cultural factors too, but the less cash on hand and earning potential you have, the harder it is to lawfully emigrate.
In this regard, New Zealand is still in the developmental stage the US was in during the 19th century: Needing skilled workers to help develop the economy faster, to a level where a country can afford to slow down the flow of inbound migration if it wants to.
Thread: So many things happening, but democracy will win in the end.
(The only question is how long that will take.)
I will try to keep this succinct.
All 3 branches of the US federal government have been at least partially compromised by the far right neo fascists who have taken over the Republican party. They did it real carefully over several decades and only fully revealed their hand over the past 2 years or so.
Perhaps the most egregious part of the takeover was when the 5 SCOTUS judges who haughtily think they can poke the 14A bear and succeed, promised not to during their confirmation hearings in 1991, 2005, 2017, 2018, and 2020 respectively.
I have a lot of things I want to say about the Alito opinion. Still processing it all. Meanwhile, I checked my previous tweets to see what I had last said about access to legal abortion. The ONLY limit I had in mind was to do with viability. I now TOTALLY oppose the GQP view.
Until 2022 I didn't fully understand how much was at stake. That these authoritarian religious zealots intend forcing Americans as far back as possible, even beyond the 1868 14th Amendment itself.
Like I said, there is a LOT for me to process & catch up on.
The reason I didn't spend much time focusing on what 14A involves is that I never thought anyone would be brazen enough to abuse their power by trying to undo this major part of citizens' rights in the US.
Every single American is impacted by this, not just women.
Thread: The fortunate sons of America🇺🇸 and Ukraine🇺🇦
Rethinking 1969's "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival in light of Ukraine's instant, wide-ranging ban on 18-65 year old men leaving the country.
Examining "women and children first."
This song is 53 years old now but it will resonate with us forever. Draft-dodging in all its forms was scorned in WWI and WWII, but less so in Vietnam.
In 1993 Bill Clinton became the first POTUS in 50 years who was not a war veteran (or served as president during WWII.)
GWB had served in the Texas Air National Guard. Obama had only turned 18 in 1979, after Vietnam and it's draft.
Cadet Heel Spurs was exactly the kind of "millionaire's son" referenced by CCR. Note the tax fraud irony too:
