#NEW: More info from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association into the arrest of Loving Co Judge Skeet Jones.
This isn’t my first time reporting on Judge Jones.
In 2014, I did a story about how he was helping CDL drivers.
He was taking speeding tickets and turning them into illegal parking tickets. The driver would pay a higher fine and keep a clean driving record. You can’t do that.
Because of that report, the State Commission on Judicial Conduct opened an investigation.
He was issued a public warning and ordering to 10 hours of educational training.
#NEW: The Winkler County Sheriff’s Office just released the mugshots of todays arrests.
Skeet Jones - 3 counts of Theft of Livestock < $150,000 1 count of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
Cody Wiliams - 3 counts of Theft of Livestock < $150,0001 count of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
Jonathon Alvarado - 1 count of Theft of Livestock < $150,000 1 count of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
Leroy Medlin - 1 count of Engaging in OrgCriminal Activity
All have bonded out of jail.
Back to my original reporting on changing speeding tickets:
More than 90 citations filed as an illegal parking ticket that started as something else.
One included, assault resulting in bodily injury charge. It was dropped and changed to an illegal parking ticket.
Other changed charges include possession of marijuana, illegal dumping and driving with an invalid license — all changed to an illegal parking ticket.
The State Commission on Judicial Conduct opened an investigation after that 2014 report. He was given a public warning and 10 hours of educational instruction in 2016.
