Thread: Iranian media reporting on the targeting of the Turkish Bashiqa base in northern Iraq. It says drones were used in the attack and names a new group "Ahrar Sinjar" as claiming responsibility. This group (احرار سنجار) seems to be a stand-in for some other group
What do we know about this: Pro-Iran groups have used drones increasingly in Iraq over the last year, often targeting US forces and Erbil in the KRG. This means the kamikaze drone, which is mentioned in this article, is the new weapon of choice for Iran and its proxies.
But what about this new group name, a reference to Sinjar and posts online even show a logo which appears to link it to the Yazidi region? tasnimnews.com/fa/news/1401/0…
The Turkish base at Bashiqa-Zilkan has been targeted numerous times in the past year by rockets, these have the hallmarks of PMU/Hashd attacks using the 107mm or 122mm,
The attacks on Bashiqa are part of larger campaign by pro-Iran groups to target other areas in northern Iraq's Kurdistan region; jpost.com/middle-east/ar…
Something doesn't add up then, because if you look at this, the past attacks on Bashiqa base were likely by the PMU. Why would the PMU create a new Ahrar Sinjar group, trying to make this about Yazidis, while also trying to link to to the Turkish bases in KRG and tensions?
If these are kamikaze UAVs of the kind Iran has supplied the PMU technology to use, as it has with Houthis and Hamas, the idea that this technology was transferred to a new group seems unlikely. More likely it is a fake new group rooted in the PMU?
But then what accounts for the Iraqi army clashes with Yazidis? Since the PMU is also strong in Sinjar, why clash one week and then turn attention to Bashiqa the next? What's really going on?
On the other hand the images shared show one drone that is quite simple...not the "six" mentioned in the Iranian article
One has to conclude Iran media highlighting this has an agenda. It is almost taking credit for it via the Iraqi Hashd and this new "group." On the other hand Rudaw and others highlight the Ankara conflict with "terrorists"; so which group is responsible?rudaw.net/english/middle…
Ankara's media would prefer to believe that all these groups are working together. But are they? Are parts of them? dailysabah.com/politics/news-…
Now compare the tweet above showing a styrofoam drone with the kind of drones that Iran tech has exported to the PMU via the IRGC; compare to the Sahab (Sammad) kamikaze UAV. washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysi…
The PMU allegedly used kamikaze style drones in 2021: "fixed-wing drone systems used to attack U.S. bases on April 14 (Erbil), May 8 (al-Asad), May 11 (Kurdistan), and June 6 (al-Asad again)" via the report above.
In the end there are a lot of questions raised, my assessment based on the book about #DroneWars, is that we need to know more about the type of drone and sophistication of the attack. The creation of a "new group" only mirrors what we know these groups in Iraq have done before

This is unfortunate, but they were not told that while the US was in Afghanistan, the US ally Qatar was hosting and backing the Taliban...and that despite all this support for "vibrant free press" that it was all to be washed away in a few weeks.
I mean the next time maybe when the West is involved, if the West is also backing the country that is backing those fighting the West (kind of like playing both sides and big profits for all involved, except civilians)...then maybe someone will ask questions.
I mean literally Qatar has its state-backed media on the one hand spinning tales around the world as "free press" even though it isn't...Taliban being groomed for leadership...and tragically the people of Afghanistan paid the price.
1.If you sanction them, they will sell their gas for more and they will win
2.If you use mean language they will interpret it as escalation and it will prove that the West is a threat, making their case for them, hardening their stance
3.If you arm Ukraine then you cut off the road to diplomacy and make Putin think he was right to invade... 4. If Ukraine gets arms then it won't have to use diplomacy and this prolongs the war [that Russia started...]
5. Russia was threatened by NATO expansion...it begged NATO to stop and wasn't listened too...it wants Ukraine to be neutral...[now it invaded and more countries are running to join NATO] 6. Russia has a right to Ukraine, it was once part of Russia['s empire]...
Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems says it "has inaugurated the SPYDER Defense System Simulation and Training Center in the Philippines in a ceremony held in the facility at an Air Base in Floridablanca, Philippines."

I always say when people talk about air defense and Israel, look beyond Iron Dome. Rafael makes Iron Dome also; but systems like this are sold abroad.
See below
Executive VP, Pinhas Yungman, Head of the Air & Missile Defense Directorate, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems:
"This is yet another milestone in the ongoing Ground Based Air Defense System project and it is definitely a very important one. Certainly, the launchers and the missiles are a valuable asset, but the materiel is worth little without the air defender...."
Everyday I open major media sites and there is some article "Elon Musk wants......it may not be that simple"...or "Elon Musk says he believes....this is why that's complex"...or "Elon Musk thinks...this is why its wrong"...it's so predictable
This is the real story in Ukraine, some in the West just don't understand that Ukraine has a huge reserve of people who want to resist and fight. It's not a "proxy" war...Ukraine is doing all the heavy lifting. I was on the front in Donbas in 2017, it was obvious then too
When I was in the Donbas with Ukrainian volunteers they all were eager to defend the country, and they came from all over Ukraine, not just the stereotype of western compared to eastern Ukraine; they predicted a major war was coming back then and they said they were ready
What Moscow didn't understand apparently, through bad intelligence or arrogance, was they thought the Ukrainian leadership could be swept away and Ukraine left only with the Western part. They also underestimated western resolve.
You ever notice how when there is a new important issue, that there are always these Israelcentric critics who try to make it into an Israel issue but their talking points don't last long, like remember the "Israel give Ukraine Iron Dome" thing...and "Israel vaccinate Gaza"...
Why doesn't the talking point last long? Because those who push it know its not sincere...they know that they are trying to "surf" the media wave...and distract...so they chuck some idea out there...see if it floats...and then keep riding the wave.
Unfortunately some hours are spent by smart people trying to research the actual issue...such as "is Israel obligated under international law to vaccinate Gaza"...and people go and look at other cases and agreements and discuss "ethics"...and "health has no borders"...
