Malik's father is a fruit vendor. The pacer used to play tennis ball matches for Rs 500 or Rs 1000 in his early years. This is considered one of the reasons for his strong shoulders as one needs to put in more effort to generate pace with a tennis ball. @SunRisers
Umran is a class 10th drop out and used to ball in the nets for @jkca_srinagar . Some seniors who saw him always wondered why he wasnt playing for the J&K team.
Umran was never serious about cricket in his early days and was quite inconsistent with the coaching. However, he was forgiven mostly bevause of the raw pace that he had to offer. Everyone wanted his pace to see the light of day. Finally he was drafted in #OrangeArmy
On 5 May, against the Delhi Capitals, Malik bowled a delivery @ 157 kmph. The only person to have bowled faster than him in the @IPL is Australian pacer Shaun Tait who clocked 157.7 kmph. 4.3 kmph more and he will be the fastest bowler in the world. Note that @shoaib100mph !
