On 20th June, MP's will have a debate on adding trans folk to the Conversion Therapy Bill. This piece illustrates exactly why this is a bad idea.
17 year old female attempts to destroy the livelihood of Dr. AZ Hakeem because of exploratory therapy. inews.co.uk/news/long-read…
Lyle claims to have "panic attacks" because Dr. Hakeem asked questions like,
"have you ever heard of trans-racial people?”
"What would you think the difference between that and being trans is?”
And how transitioning would affect Lyle in future relationships.
We know there are elevated rates of mental illness within the transgender population & that patients with poor underlying mental health may be less likely to be affirmed as transgender, & may experience this as "invalidating".
Worth noting, that psychiatrists "must deal with all our patients with compassion but also make safe medical decisions when demonstrable material reality is at odds with a patient's subjectivity."
"Currently, there is no law prohibiting conversion therapy, so the only recourse patients who are treated by psychiatrists have is the complaints system of the GMC."
I am confident Dr. Hakeem will be exonerated, but...
... he is about to face a very onerous process by a very captured GMC, if the Webberley trial judgement summary is any indication.
As gruelling as that may be, had the T been added to the Conversion Therapy Bill, he could potentially be facing a prison sentence as well 🙄😳🤡.
That's because the Government CT proposals "targeted TALKING conversion therapy with a new criminal offence where it is committed against under 18s under any circumstance".
The Government proposals seemed to liken "feelings of same-sex attraction or being transgender to a defect, deficiency or addiction as conducting "conversion therapy" & aimed to "introduce a new criminal offence that will capture TALKING conversion therapies".
"Perpetrators may face up to 6 months’ imprisonment" OR if this indictable offence was
"shown to have seriously harmed the victim (for example, psychiatric injury), the perpetrator could face imprisonment of up to 5 years."
Reader, this is sentence for SPEECH.
Do you think Dr. Hakeem shoulld be spending 5 years in jail because he "mentioned the infamous case of Racheal Dolezal, the American civil rights activist who for years presented herself as black but was later revealed to be white"?
IF you don't think so, then please write to your MP ahead of the 20th June, 2022 debate, detailing how draconian and open to abuse these fascist proposals of adding T to the Conversion Therapy Bill, are.
Our children and society deserve so much better, than TRA driven law.
Forgot to add, under the now dropped Transgender Conversion Therapy proposals, "conversion therapy protection orders" could have seen "Lyle's" poor mother facing penalties ranging "from a fine to imprisonment depending on the severity of the case and be determined by the court".
Lyle says they felt compelled to "go to the session to avoid being thrown out the family home".
The CT proposals state "any other person with the permission of the court for example, the police, a teacher, a charity, a friend or a family member" hearing this could apply for a...
...CT Protection Order which would also grant "any requirement that the court considers necessary to protect the person for whose protection the order is made – “requirement” includes any prohibition/ restriction, for example, stay a certain distance from the person at all times"
In practice, that means should the CT Trans proposal go through on the nod, any idiot TRA could apply for a "restriction order "telling Lyle's mother to stay away from her child, for the "crime" of questioning her child's "gender identity" & booking an appointment with Dr. Hakeem
It could also mean "Lyle" ends up in care, having been radicalised into gender ideology, to reject her parents love and care.
All this despite KNOWING that the state is not as good a parent as the natural parent.
Gender Extremism rots the Brain.
We know already that effects on children whose Mums are sent to prison are catastrophic.
Parental imprisonment is for children a well-recognised predictor of mental ill-health, poor educational attainment & employment prospects, and future criminality for the children concerned.
The damage to children of imprisoning their primary carer stems principally from the initial, sudden separation—the loss of home, the loss of parental care, the dramatic changes for children, that follow immediately on parental custody, often without any preparation or warning.
The extent to which the State fails children of carers in the criminal justice system is well documented, I'm shocked the Government even remotely thought it was a good idea to wave the threat of imprisonment at mothers who don't want their daughters sterilised or #YeetTheTeets
Some 62% of sentences passed on women are for terms of six months or less, despite all the evidence that such sentences do far more harm than good.
It is the responsibility of MP’s to draft clear, coherent, accessible law based on evidence, not ideology, and to help the government to govern well, within the rule of law.
David Renton is Allison's Chamber Mate. Shared direct office space with Allison, just the 2 of them, for about 10 years.
This white man, educated at Eton, decided to furtively record overheard conversations of his Black Lesbian colleague, and grass her up to Head of Chambers.
David Renton claims's he's "fond" of her. If this is how he's treats people he's "fond" of, I would hate to know how he treats people he dislikes/ isn't "fond" of.
Btw, David Renton grassed Allison up on evidence that wasn't "compelling" either.
R (FDJ) v SSJ showed a prevalence of sexual offending by the known transgender prison population of over 50% compared to a prevalence of around 18% in male prisons generally
Lord Bingham emphasizing connection between freedom of expression & democracy in R v Shayler, 2003
"There can be no government by the people if they are IGNORANT of the issues to be resolved, the arguments for & against different solutions & the FACTS underlying those arguments."
I have finally had the opportunity to access the supplementary bundle, as I've had difficulty during the course of the #IStandWithAllisonBailey trial, and reading the sheer level of evidence and detail relating to the cotton ceiling is shocking.
People need to be informed.
And I'm saying this as someone who is familiar with basic concepts of the cotton ceiling.
The Nation needs to know what's happening to Lesbians, but they won't do if trial bundles are made inaccessible to the public via strategic legal briefs, keen to spare their clients blushes
