“Russia holds cards in this war that may yet prove to its decisive advantage. When UN sec-gen warns of the spectre of a world food shortage, take notice. Equally, governor of BoE has been much derided for warning of food apocalypse …. but he is right.”

Despite warnings months ago of this looming crisis, Govt is still pushing ahead by risking #foodsecurity by scrapping food subsidies for the environment.
Govt cares about the environment but not food at time when the world is headed into worst food crisis ever.
Half of the world’s Agri production is dominated by just four multinationals who wield disproportionate powers who since #UkraineWar have raked in tremendous gains from the price surges on grain markets.
There are around 100,000 farmers and about 12,000 fishers in the UK and those numbers are in decline.
Their vote couldn’t swing the referendum one way or another, but what they produce helps to keep the nation fed.

“A key point to note is that ETAGs will no longer exist as a formal entity and we will need to consider whether they become Trade Working Groups or some other forum,” the letters said.
Govt are betraying 🇬🇧 by reneging on promises that 🇬🇧 would lead the world in animal and food standards. In desperate bid for 🇺🇸 FTA, govt is conceding to 🇺🇸 insistence that our existing food origin labelling is banned.
You won’t be able to work out what you’re buying/eating.
US negotiators regard our existing food origin labelling as a barrier to its exports and insist the practice is banned as part of any trade agreement.
Big changes are being pushed through Parliament in British agriculture and trade laws which ensure the safety and supply of our food. It means that low quality food will be imported from countries like USA/Brazil at artificially low prices to undercut 🇬🇧 farmers food producers.
