🤓: I went to buy a watermelon because last week you mentioned an iconic way to eat it so I had to try it out

First OP really likes lychee and often buys it/asks about the price at the markets. Once they ate all the lychee their parents brought home in one afternoon and got scolded. Their parents tell OP that eating lychee often will “上火” (🐻: that’s right haha)

🐻: I really like eating lychees too!
🤓: I think my biggest regret in korea is that I can’t eat lychee all 4 seasons
🐻: I haven’t even seen them in korea yet
🤓: I promise I’ll make sure you get to eat them this summer
🐻: fresh lychees are the best! I miss them~

They talked about how although fruits are good, you still need to be aware of how much you eat a sitting because if you eat too much you may experience different symptoms depending on the fruit

Next OP likes peaches! 🍑 Guozhen was drooling trying to speak lmao but he talked about how there was a trend in korea last summer where you hollow out the center/pit and fill it with yogurt and granola! GZ said his favorite way is to marinate sliced peaches in earl grey tea +

+ powder and eat it together to get the tea and sweet peaches flavor. GZ said in china they discuss whether they like to eat salty/sweet peaches, but in korea they’ll discuss whether they like hard or soft peaches

Kun and GZ are talking about how juicy peaches are the best especially if you refrigerate them for a while bc it’s super refreshing. Guozhen said if you want a fruit to taste sweeter, pull it out of the fridge and let it come to room temp a bit to “wake up” esp strawberries 🍓

Next OP is from Fujian said they like guava both hard or soft (🐻: I like it too!) They said the best way to eat it is to sprinkle some sour plum powder on it.
🐻: *clapping* as expected from my hometown - that’s exactly how I eat it!

OP misses guava from home bought by their mom and hope they can return soon to eat it. Guozhen and Kun talked about how guava can come in the form of white and red flesh, but always has light green skin. Kun said crunchy guava dipped in sour plum powder is delicious

Kun is just continuing to rave about guava + sour plum powder combination lolll and I can vouch for that because it is indeed really delicious 😋

Since today is prerecorded, they’re reading comments from last Monday. OP said for summer their fruit of choice is watermelon from the fridge that has been left to go back slightly to room temp (not fully)

🐻: I mentioned last week as well but I really like oranges! No matter what type I like them~ Actually all citrus fruits…I even like lemons!

Guozhen remembered the fruit he was mentioning earlier (a type of grapefruit that’s quite large)
🐻: this reminds me of something…I saw this this korean ent program shot in china where they had to hide fruits on their bodies and one participant drew “grapefruit” and they +

+ thought it was gonna be relatively easy (small grapefruit) but they gave them this massive grapefruit 😂 I laughed so hard haha

Now they’re talking about Jeju oranges - how thin their skin is and how full of juice they are and Kun said you can experience picking oranges there

Next OP likes pineapples and buys them often 🍍 They like juicing them as well~
🐻: many supermarkets sell pre-sliced pineapples so sometimes I’ll buy that to eat as well!
🤓: some pineapples have already been cored, but I find it quite tasty!

🐻: ah I know many people will put pineapples in salt water before they eat them - why is that?
🤓: ah that’s to lower the acidity a bit
🐻: ahh I see otherwise if you eat a lot your mouth will hurt
GZ said pineapple juice is a rly great base for alcoholic drinks like pina colada

Kun and Guozhen talked about the rise of people growing fruits at home like strawberries
🐻: you can only grow a few strawberries at a time though :’))
🤓: but you grew them yourself so they’re “sweeter” 😂
🐻: I’ve seen kumquat trees grown in the home before too!

🐻: when I was little, there was a small plot of land downstairs where a jujube/date tree was planted
🤓: in northern china I see pomegranate trees planted often! The growth process is quite interesting - after the flowers fall off they slowly become pomegranates

🐻: ahh I remember in college we had a field of persimmon trees - they were even on campus! I ate a lot of persimmons back then haha
🤓: you know sometimes during the harvest they leave 2-3 persimmons on the tree for the birds/critters to enjoy the happy spring harvest as well :D

🐻: in college, really because no one picked the persimmons, so they’d fall and start rotting and then bird/critters would come eat them…so in order not to let them go to waste…(implies they’d pick and eat it themselves) 😂 only when realized it wasn’t planted/owned by anyone
