Okay I asked around and I have good news and bad news. As we know, MXTX's novels are locked on jjwxc meaning we can't access or pay for them. There's another way to pay her which is by throwing "bombs" BUT you can only start throwing bombs 180 days after your 1st Paypal top-up.
Chapters are EXTREMELY cheap on jjwxc. Most of the time, you can buy a novel for less than 5 USD.

The good: Bombs allow you to send a large no. of points. There are 5 grades from 100 to 10k pts, and you can throw multiple 10k bombs too.

The bad: You have to wait 180 days. Image
For those who want to support MXTX but do not wish to purchase the 7seas translation either because of translation errors, the union issue, or because it's too expensive or hard to ship in your country, you can consider this avenue. 10k pts is only 17 USD!

I didn't want to say more on the guan thing, but even tho I've muted my own guan thread and words relating to MDZS donghua, I'm continuing to see guan discourse on my tl.

In summary, there's no one correct reading of the guan scene, and we are NOT going to agree with each other.
(A) SYMBOLISM OF THE GUAN ITSELF
There are multiple meanings associated with the guan. Euro provides a good list here, but I want to add one to the list related to (4): station and legitimacy.
This is self-explanatory and cross-cultural. If you're the king of England, the crown represents your STATUS as the king and your LEGITIMACY as a king. For a Chinese emperor, the headdress means the same thing. If you're the sect leader, your guan represents that position too.

“Do you think we should do something?” WWX asks.

LWJ sits quietly at his desk, applying color to paper with firm, graceful strokes.

“About what?” he asks.

“I don’t know,” WWX admits. “But it feels like somewhere out there, everything is on FIRE... and it’s because of us.”
It is a lovely day in the Cloud Recesses, spring flowers blooming serenely over graceful boughs, as birds chirp contentedly in their perches. After a moment, LWJ lifts his brush lightly off the parchment in front of him, it sets it down.

“Nothing is on fire,” he points out.
WWX lets out a groan, and flops over on the bed.

“Okay,” he grumbles. “Nothing is on fire HERE. But you feel it too, don’t you? Somewhere out there, EVERYTHING is on fire. EVERYTHING. And it’s because of us.”

LWJ is silent for a long while.

“Mn,” he finally admits.

K was very gracious when news of the official tl came out. It's painful to hear that they might not have been contacted about the tl and was maybe even sad, but still put on a smile and did what they thought was right by removing their TL to encourage ppl to support the official.
And now it seems people think it's okay to say stuff like this about the ExR tls. If you're going to make up insults, then don't make up something as ridiculous and untrue as "50% of the original is missing" when you evidently haven't read the original.

The TRUE tragedy of the broken Yunmeng Shuangjie promise is that JC loved WWX SO MUCH that he was willing to DIE for him, and WWX loved JC SO MUCH that he underwent an incredibly dangerous and painful surgical process to rip out an essential part of himself —
But because he KNEW JC wouldn't want this, because he KNEW it would hurt JC, and BECAUSE HE LOVED JC, he kept it from JC.

And the tragredy is that over time, it was those little lies he told to keep the secret that ultimately forced them apart.
"Why aren't you carrying your sword?"

"I just didn't feel like it."

At its weakest, YMJ and JC as a sect leader were getting criticized for being unable to keep WWX in check. And it started from a small thing. WWX refusing to carry his sword.

I feel as if my guan thread might have started some drama woops, but I muted my threads about the donghua and also muted the hashtags for the finale AND the word "donghua" so I haven't seen the drama, just people talking about the drama
My take is... At the end of the day, it's just One shitty adaptation. I'm going to pretend that the finale never happened the same way I selectively pretend parts of CQL didn't happen and go back to the novel.
Drama like this just sucks the creative energy out of you. I'd rather we all focus our energy on writing more fic and making more art. I absolutely want some shuangjie recon content now.
