Under a progressive information-state, it's vitally important to erase the immediate past

Otherwise it would be deeply confusing to everyone in that state why my dad, his brothers, and all their friends used to take guns to school in their cars, without a single school shooting
These aren't the bygone days of yore we're talking about, like it's the Founding Fathers. It's my *dad*. He's still alive, I could call him up right now

These events aren't caused by guns. They're caused by something else. That we appear to have no interest in understanding
Stuff like this would have been far far more confusing to my parents, because it was so culturally alien despite them all owning guns all over the place

Therefore the cause is not the guns, but the culture: but the culture can't possibly be examined and replaced. Just the guns
A culture that—if we're just being empiricists here, scientists, the foundation of our society—apparently now regularly drives people to commit acts of mass violence that were just unthinkable when my parents were kids

You would think there would be some curiosity about that
Entire fields of study should be dedicated to rigorous understanding of this.

Demographics, yes of course. But it also requires the cultural amnesia that it didn't used to be this way. When you erase the collective memory of what's normal, you get to reshape what is normal
Crazy, then, that despite this ability to induce cultural amnesia, in service of outlawing guns, gun rights have only gotten *stronger* over the last 30 years

It should have logically been the opposite
So maybe there's some scientific correlation, between erasing people's culture, that they naturally fit within, and inducing the level of alienation that leads to unnatural events like this.

I'm not a scientist. But if I was, this is what I'd want to study. It's only rational.

It's not a coincidence that Musk is now, after just a few weeks, driving them insane exactly like Trump used to

Their playbook is the same for everyone. But when they try to use it against someone with spirit, it doesn't cow him, it only goads him to turn harder against them
Musk just wants to grill and put us on Mars

That's a grave threat to the Regime, since it's both inherently broken in the long run and everyone normal hates it

Therefore any escape from leftism becomes an existential threat to it, as it could easily conquer it
Whenever someone displays this instinct to escape this mindset—even when they have no conscious idea they're even escaping, they're just pursuing their instincts—the regime executes the exact same series of attacks

Everyone recognizes these now, there's no need to rehash them

One of my hottest takes is that Marx was right about the alienation of industrialization (and, by extension, the Laptop Class), in that it strips men of the need to learn responsibility over their direct means of economic existence, sowing the soil for the creation of the bugmen

Stripping social tradition from workers who need it most to live well at the same time as other forces strip them of the autarchy needed to become fully-formed men is the one-two punch of modernity
Traditional wisdom from those who came before is dissolved alongside your ability to be induced into much of that wisdom first-hand through being forced to be responsible for your own land, little business, the thing that means your family doesn't eat if you fail

When "It's not happening and it's good that it is" doesn't work because you've spent years bragging that it's happening

Then you have to pivot to "But it's morally neutral and if you oppose this fully natural and inevitable event that could be stopped tomorrow you're a Nazi" Image
This isn't exactly a hint at some grotesque act of mass political violence, either.

All you would have to do is end mass immigration.

Mass migration is a political policy. By definition, it's not politically or morally neutral.
The attempt to frame a political choice, that could be undone tomorrow, as inevitable, natural, and neutral means that you agree with the political choice and its consequences

And don't want your political opponents to have any say in what you're doing

The logic of the Current Thing has now led us to a moment where the Extremely Democratic Regime has convinced its subjects that they're socially banned from doing business with any citizens of a nation whose democratic elections conflict with the ideology of the Regime

Holy lmao
"I was going to hire you because globalism makes it way cheaper lol. But now that we've banned all Russian citizens from global life, and your people just democratically voted for somebody our rulers tell us we disagree with, you're banned too

This is what democracy looks like"
The hilarious thing here is that even if these people have qualms with or flat-out *disagree* with the vote or actions of their nation, they're still unpersoned from the Global Democratic Community, because...

Who do you think you're sticking it to here, Freedom Fighters

Since fiction is the dramatization of the dreams + fears of the people writing it, this is deeply revealing

What they're saying is they're no longer sure their utopian future embodied by Star Trek will ever happen. Instead, they're extremely afraid that their vision has failed
The major revelation here isn't the possibility that it has failed, which we all know

But rather the fact that they are starting to *feel* it in a way they can no longer deny. So deep down that they're starting to write it into their dreams
If you believe, as many do, that the current movement is indistinguishable from a religious one, then it is extremely revealing that its most faithful and important proponents—the authors of its narrative—are already coming to doubt

All of you are worried about @MysteryGrove's movie list, but none of you are posting Vic Mackey's big bald head, Dutch's autism, or the taste of sweet butter.

Reminder THE SHIELD is the best thing you've never seen—why don't they talk about it? What don't they want you to know?
Season 1 is the least impressive, but still good. It's when it hits 2-5 that it gets wild, and the end seasons somehow pull off the drama even when they keep having to tie up loose ends

Tempting me to rewatch it all

The Shield is legitimately better than The Sopranos. Try watching them side by side and tell me which one you want to watch more of and which you don't, and which evokes more emotion over time.
