This week we got a set of incredibly damning documents from the Secret Service about the Trump family. This is what we learned:
Donald Trump used his Secret Service protection as a way to funnel money into his struggling business empire. He pocketed nearly $2 million in taxpayer money from the Secret Service. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
All those hundreds of visits to Trump properties while he was president—it was just having a foot in the door of his old job, it was grifting the Secret Service's budget into his pockets.
In one of the most egregious moments of Trump's presidency, he used a visit to victims of a mass shooting as a way to put tens of thousands of dollars from the Secret Service in his bank account. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
And it's not like his hotels had to charge the Secret Service. They chose to.
Of course, Eric Trump claimed they were only charging the Secret Service like $50 for housekeeping. We knew that was a lie. But we didn't know just how bad a lie it was until Monday.
Because when Eric Trump would staid at Trump Hotels, not only was he charging the Secret Service, he was charging them ABOVE the allowable government rate. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
The patriotic thing to do would have been to comp the Secret Service agents' rooms. But Donald Trump has never cared about patriotism when there was a dollar on the line.
So what did we learn?
That to Donald Trump and the Trump family, the Secret Service wasn't just there for their protection, it was there for their profits.

A couple days ago, we got our hands on a stack of documents showing how the Trump family abused their Secret Service protection to put money in their own pockets. Here's what we found:
In what should be a major scandal, it turns out Donald Trump was able to pocket nearly $2 million in taxpayer money from the Secret Service staying at his hotels citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
Remember when Trump made such a big deal about how he was donating his $400,000 in government salary? It's easy to do when you're bilking the government for more than that.
ICYMI: We got a treasure trove of Secret Service documents, and there are some pretty outrageous examples of corruption buried in them.
For example, Trump managed to profit off his visit to victims of the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas--a real low, even for him. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
All told, Trump’s businesses have made nearly $2 million from the Secret Service. $2 million of taxpayer money, paid to Trump’s properties by his protection detail. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
We just got a gold mine of Secret Service documents on Donald Trump, exposing how he used his protection to funnel taxpayer dollars into his pockets. Here's what we learned:
Trump went to his companies properties hundreds of times as president. He could've comped his Secret Service agents. Instead, he had them pay him nearly $2 million. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
The breakdowns are egregious. More than $300,000 to protect him at Mar-a-Lago. Close to $1 million at his golf courses. More than $400,000 at Trump hotels. All in his pocket.
New records acquired by CREW show that the Secret Service has spent nearly $1.75 million at Trump properties since 2016—significantly higher than previously known. citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
That’s a staggering amount, but it’s even worse: previously reported spending that doesn’t appear to be included in these records likely push the total to nearly $2 million.
To be clear, that’s nearly $2 million to Trump properties JUST for protecting Trump and his family.
Trump properties also charged the State Department and other agencies hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the Trump presidency, meaning the full amount of taxpayer money that was funneled into Trump’s pocket is significantly higher.
We just got a treasure trove of Secret Service documents about Trump. We're going to break some news. First story coming shortly.
Here's our first story: the Secret Service has spent nearly $2,000,000 at Trump properties, way more than previously known citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
Second story to follow shortly. It will take a deeper look at one particular trip to a Trump hotel.
