Returning to Yvette Herrell is the devil, we have a part 2! This time, I’m going to venture into the domain of her background, some Twitter posts and a little more legislation. I don’t really visit facebook or instagram, however. Even so, should suffice.🧵 1/
First, we should recognize that she is among the “thoughts and prayers” crowd. Thinking of how to profit off this tragedy, and praying for another shooting to blame on Democrats in some fashion, most likely.

3/
Yet, when there was a 13-year-old kid killed on 13 Aug, 2021, in Albuquerque at a school shooting, she said nothing at all that day. And the following, she was posting about her latest photo op.

4/ Image
Back in April of 2021, she also falsely claimed that Biden has been attempting to infringe on 2nd Amendment rights. A helpful reminder: in DC v Heller and US v Miller, prohibition on certain types of guns, or where guns can be carried, is lawful under the 2nd Amendment.

5/ Image
As a reminder, she also voted against HR7790.

6/
But as we look at her campaign contributors, we see that she has received a little over $180k from the O&G industry (the majority of which is individual, but she is certainly not immune to PAC money).

7/
There is another $100k from the House Freedom Fund, and $14k from the Susan B Anthony List. (Note: I’m having to look at multiple sources and can’t seem to decipher the FEC’s stuff on their site.) To wit, she also was a recipient of contributions from Cruz 20 for 20.

8/
She’s also a regular guest on Newsmax and OAN, and routinely cites Washington Examiner and Daily Mail for her propaganda.

10/
Moreover, despite Cherokee Nation saying that she is a citizen, she also routinely acts against the best interests of Native communities; it’s well to remember that the Mescalero Apache, as well as parts of Navajo Nation and a few pueblos are part of her district.

11/
Which brings me to Couy Griffin.

Yes, she’s friends with THAT el coup couy, the C4T guy who got convicted for his participation in the J6 insurrection. So how’s this relate to the Natives in her district?

12/
Well, you see, Couy Griffin also said, “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.” And yes, he tried to walk it back, but you see, Natives tend to vote Democratic. In fact, enough to swing Arizona and Wisconsin in favor of Joe Biden during the presidential election.

13/
I would be remiss to not mention she isn’t even part of the bipartisan Native American Congressional Caucus. Just in case we weren’t clear that she has absolutely no function as far as NA issues go.

15/
We should also take some time to recognize that she voted against censure of Gosar, hangs out with MTG and Boebert, took money from Anton Lazzaro and didn’t return it, doesn’t seem to have an issue with Gaetz, etc., etc. The list goes on and on.

16/
Regarding voting/legislation: Way back in March of 2021, she voted against #VAWA. Against it. As a woman. Yet, she continually tweets how she supports mothers and all that. (Her voting record proves otherwise, this among the biggest issues.)

17/
She introduced HR7464, the Anti-Caravan Act, on 7 April. I should note two things about this. 1. It has a provision to reimburse whichever country the migrants are deported to, up to 70% of the cost (so much for Mexico paying for the wall, eh?);

18/
and 2. she didn’t even take the time to proofread it properly. But that aside, she also tried to say that the border was open upon President Biden taking office. Tweet is now deleted, but that's why we screenshot things.

19/ Image
(Still not an open border. But if it WAS open on 20 Jan 2021, then it had to have been open under the orange guy’s administration, too.)

20/
19 May, she voted against HR7688, the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Act. She also voted in favor to recommit, and against both amendments. I’ll try to summarize this below.

21/ Image
But the notion that GOP reps “did not have time to read it” is horseshit. I managed to do so in about 45 minutes WHILE writing a summary. Probably would’ve taken me less if I were not multitasking.

22/
But that's all I've got for now. Support @Gabe_NM up to November, get her out of office.

So what exactly does this bill affect? (Caveat: not a lawyer, but this is my understanding based on the text provided on congress.gov) It means the President can declare an energy emergency, in 30-day periods, with a possibility of a 1-week period (proactively)

21a/
prior to a “reasonably foreseeable emergency.” During such a proclamation, it would be illegal for anyone to sell any consumer fuel at excessive prices (relative to an average based on the 30 days prior to said proclamation, or another benchmark as determined by the FTC).

21b/
Yes, there are declared mitigation measures in place, such as volume sold, in terms of supply and demand (it even takes into account seasonal variation). That works as a basic supply chain; distributors purchase fuel, sell it to gas stations, who then sell it to customers.

21c/
So when costs go up for distributors, that price goes up for the gas stations, where it then goes up for the consumers- and the gas stations have to not only cover the costs of the fuel, but also keep the lights on, pay employees, etc.

21d/
In general, the cost of fuel at the pump is not the fault of the gas station itself (especially in regards to independent gas stations, like the one I work at), but it does specify that gas stations also cannot harm consumers in this manner.

21e/
It also allows for each state to take civil action (including restitution on behalf of consumers – though I don’t really know how this would be remitted to citizens affected).

21f/
There are protections for the sellers of fuel, as well, in that state AGs cannot compound additional suits while federal action is pending, BUT does not prevent an AG from enforcement.

21g/
Additionally, there is a provision for low income assistance – this is probably the real reason GOP reps voted against the bill. Deities forbid we help the poor people. Funds will be provided in a separate Treasury Fund (to be known as the Consumer Relief Trust Fund).

21h/
All that said, it will require the FTC to conduct an investigation. So, any relief granted per this bill is not going to be immediate. Furthermore, it establishes what is called the Transportation Fuel Monitoring and Enforcement Unit...

21i/
largely to analyze and identify market manipulation, false information reports, and disadvantaging consumers via marketing power (and other unfair competition methods). Much of the rest of the bill is regarding gathering data, as well as penalties associated with this.

21j/
I would still take a look at the bill itself here:

On the various evils of Yvette Herrell... 🧵

1/
On 18 May, she voted AGAINST HR7790 (Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act), but only a week prior, was blaming formula shortages on Biden. So this anti-abortion whackjob decided to obstruct rather than help, and blame POTUS.

2/

clerk.house.gov/Votes/2022220?…
How, exactly, she squares that with voting for HR 7791, I'm not really sure. 🤷🏽‍♂️
