We have a virus ripping through this country at an infectious rate bordering on measles that is giving 1 in 5 people a new health condition - and we have zero mitigation efforts in place.

It sounds so crazy to say that out loud.
I'm not pro "lock-downs", but it's incredibly eerie that China has made the decision that protecting their population from infection **far outweighs** any short-term economic hit from that decision.

It makes you wonder what they are seeing in their #LongCovid data.
In addition, how many premature heart attacks, strokes, and early on-set dementia are we going to see in 5-10-20 years from this? It's going to be absolutely devastating. #LongCovid

“Before covid I don’t think we appreciated symptoms like this could be due to microvascular thrombosis, for most physicians if you said blood clot they mostly think DVT/PE.. But Covid has broadened our perspective that #MicroClots could be contributing to #LongCovid symptoms”
Really not looking forward to the potential convo in 1-2 years of “oops yes you had chronic #MicroClots & now you have pulmonary hypertension which is a lifelong condition of debilitating breathlessness, which could’ve only been prevented if we treated you earlier” #LongCovid

Was invited back to @StanfordMed to present to their Infectious Disease faculty last week. Few comments stuck out:

“80% of our #LongCovid patients have his exact same story: young, previous healthy, mild case, & now severely debilitated” Image
“It’s a very different experience to hear about #LongCovid from a patient like yourself than it is to read about it in studies, it’s critical more physicians & researchers learn about this disease from the patient perspective” Image
Then lots of good questions around what doctors can do to improve approach to care ~ & lot of palpable anxiety/tension around the tsunami of patients they’re seeing & expecting. “#LongCovid clinics will not be a sustainable model of care.. need better treatment”
