🐻: have you all experienced someone’s comment or look have you insecure & pondering for half the day? Like “did I not do well somewhere? Or do they have opinions?” But in reality maybe those weren’t intentional or targeted towards you at all. +
🐻: Don’t overthink in these situations and you’ll be happier! :)
🐻: overthinking on drains your energy more and more, so don’t focus your energy on things that don’t matter at the end of the day and focus instead on building a positive mindset!
~Today’s TMI~
OP’s dormmate told them they had a white hair so they helped them pluck it out, but realized it wasn’t just 1 and OP was like “I’m only 23 how do i have white hairs 😭” and they decided they have to sleep early and eat well and asked Kun if he’s ever had one
🐻: ah isn’t having white hair normal? I’m sure I’ve had a few but not too many that I usually pluck out. But isn’t there that saying where if you pluck your white hairs it’ll grow more back? I’m not sure if that’s true or not :’) if it grows then it grows no big deal +
+ if there’s a lot you can always dye your hair! Must be because (you have) too much stress…just like the manager who’s sitting outside right now hahah he’s only 2 years older than me and already has a full head of white hair 😂 our managers work really hard
~New KPOP w/ LaiLai~
🐻: on Monday with Ma laoshi (guozhen) we talked about our favorite fruits. What’s yours?
🎵: I actually asked Caoli jie to put this question in hehe I listened to Monday’s program and was envious haha
🐻: haha everything we talk about end up being about food
🎵: my favorite fruit is lychee! I tend to pick lychee flavored beverages and such
🐻: do you guys tend to eat a lot of fruit?
🎵: he (guozhen) especially like to buy fruit haha whenever he buys other things he always has to pick up some fruit
🐻: oh? What does he like recently?
🎵: he’s been liking those korean melons lately (t/n: the yellow ones) haha and whenever we have an outing with guozhen we always have to order meal portions for 3 people 😆
[1st song: “NANANA” by GOT7]
OP said their mandarin teacher came to korea motivated by her love of GOT7 and is learning korean and OP is motivated to learn mandarin bc of their love for wayv. OP introduced the song a bit and talked about how it’s an era many fans are enjoying and
+ hope kun/wayv can come back with a new album and concert as well~
🎵: Lee Soo Man are you listening?? 😆
🐻: haha I want it to happen soon as well!
LL talked about how Jay B was in charge of the songwriting and it sounds like a very GOT7 song. He also mentioned +
+ how “NANANA” in korean means “Me Me Me” so it’s like emphasizing the group’s ability to make you feel happy. LL talked about how this album was also expressing how thankful they were to fans for waiting for them and also explained the fandom’s named “aghase”
🐻: even though they’re all in separate companies, (GOT7) being able to come together and have a full comeback was a wonderful surprise for the fans! I saw in the MV there were beautiful scenes as well with flowers and little critters~
LaiLai talked about the song’s concept of a building a beautiful “new house” as a metaphor for the close ties between GOT7 and Ahgases
[2nd song: “How Come (2)” by Brave Girls]
LaiLai talked about how this is a remake of the song by Brown Eyed Girls released in 2008 and how the biggest difference is adding a more modern 2022 style to it. LL said this is the song that skyrocketed BEG’s popularity, so Brave Girls+
+ probably had similar feelings with their experience last year when “Rollin’” skyrocketed their popularity as well
[3rd song: “ALIVE” by LIGHTSUM]
LaiLai talked about how this song express how before, their life was in black and white, but after meeting someone they like, color comes into their life. They had a youthful and cutesy vibe and through this mini album they wanted to +
+ try out some other styles like RnB to showcase the group’s range of concepts
Kun asked if they had talked about this group before and LL said yes, but last year with LeD so kun was like “ah that’s why I don’t recall”
[4th song: “Thumbs Up” by BLANK2Y]
LaiLai talked about how the group’s name means how they want to become the key to the blank world and fill the void with their beauty/vibrance. Their title track has 2 versions - korean and english and the album is the first of a trilogy about +
+ the group’s worldview and has to do with keys. LL also talked about how the album also contains songs for the fans
~New KPOP Segment~
[1st news: Lee Soo Man & Suho’s speech at Stanford on the future of kpop]
LL mentioned how they talked about CT (culture technology) and how not only culture is spreading, but technology too and how kpop transcends past regions - its now a global phenomenon
🎵: not only w/ LSM, but my university actually offers an interdisciplinary course on Cultural Technology as well as now there’s high demand for someone who understands culture and has the knowledge to innovate and LSM is someone who’s ahead of the game
🐻: actually with aespa you can see SM trying out their innovative technology concepts - like how they have 8 members haha
Kun talked aespa’s album where u could scan and get an AR experience that makes it feel like ur gonna enter Kwangya
🐻: I thought it was so interesting! +
+ Album designs/concepts these days are becoming more elaborate
LL mentioned how LSM said kpop is not only music, but also is connected to theater, gaming, & other industries
(T/N: lmao I was there and LSM talked for almost a full hour so they had to extend the conference 😂)
[2nd news: debut of an all AI kpop group]
LaiLai talked about how this was originally an experiment by korean YouTubers but it managed to get 6m views and climb up the music charts. The members’ voices are sampled from a combination of many different voice recordings to create+
+ the sound you want
🐻: ah I really can’t even imagine what the future of kpop would be like! Before I thought it would be like wearing VR headsets to make it seem like you’re actually at a concert which is something I think LSM has brought up often and I was like +
+ “Can it be possible??”
🎵: haha right? But it’s already here!
🐻: technology/innovation is so fast - are you looking forward to AI era in kpop?
🎵: we actually discussed this topic in class and there’s still generally some reservations about it, but we do agree that +
+ technology innovation and developments are important
🐻: right it might come sooner than we expect like 10 years or so! Take VR glasses as an example - these days you can play high tech games with them also like the flight simulation games I play
🎵: right I remember my teacher saying to not think of technology as a replacement for human experiences, but an enhancement when we need them
🐻: alrighty~ our time is about up today! I specially left out one song so we could talk more LOL
🎵: I’m very satisfied 😆
🐻: our program is coming to an end today! Wishing everyone a happy weekend. Today is already Friday! :D Lastly we’ll play Sting’s “What Could Have Been”. See u next week~ bye bye!
~opening~
🐻: the world is unfamiliar/unknown, so it’s filled with magic/wonderment that we need to unpack one by one. The right way to do so is through exploration and innovation! What new things have you found out today?
~opening~
🐻: when asked what’s the most bustling places during the summer season, it’s gotta be the roadside food stalls! What’s your favorite summer street food/snack?
~opening~
🐻: in this fast-paced world, we often want efficiency and speed to reach our goal, but sometimes slowing down is the real speed. Only by slowing down do we have time to think and enjoy the scenery of the journey and appreciate the world around us
🎵: while we were introducing Astro’s song I had a thought - another benefit of becoming an adult is we can make better decisions on our own
🐻: yeah I think that’s the case for most people! Although a small group still do keep their childhood innocence/naivety~
~opening~
🐻: We often hear ppl say they don’t want to waste their free time, but also don’t know how to spend it meaningfully. Hobbies don’t spring up overnight & take time to cultivate, so u need to go step by step. That’s why taking the first step is so important!
