So today I celebrated #MenstrualHygieneDay with a group of "Young Girls from the Young Stars Global Glow/Nigerian Reads Community", Other Girls, Their Moms, Female School Teachers, A Family Doctor, A Humanitarian & Convener, Ms @AbigailAsantu
Before Him, I & Three Other Panelists talked about Menstrual Health & Menstrual Hygiene.
We talked about the need for cleanliness, availability of pads, the girl-child opening up on their first experience to their families & parents teaching their daughters...
Openess to talk about it if they feel shy, irritated or stigmatised.
The need for boys and men to care for women and girls when they are Menstruating as some experience pain, mood swings and all kinds of discomfort. They need love and care at those times.
A demonstration on how to fix the pad was made by two of the girls first from Global Globe Girls and Second from the invited girls from Agingi Community in Rukuba Road.
Massive Shout-out to Abigail for doing an Amazing job with girls in Agingi, Angwan Rukuba Community. I was wowed at how one of the girl's mom had massive things to say about her daughter/other girls since joining the program.
