What is Web3⁉️
A thread🧵

Web 2.0 + Decentralization = Web 3.0🔐

Before starting with what exactly Web3 is, let's talk about the previous generations of the Internet 🌐

#web3 #decentralisation #web2
2/15 Web 1.0: The Read-only web📚. In Web1 the users were the consumers of the content created by others.

Web 2.0: The read/write web📚✍🏻 or Social web. In Web2 users are the creator as well as the consumers
3/15 While Web2.0 changed the whole perspective of the internet in many aspects it gave rise to some problems too.

Problems with Web 2.0❗️
- 📍Centralized
- ⚠️Single point of failure
- ❌Censored
- 🔐Security and Privacy
4/15 📍Centralized- Web 2.0 is centralized which means it is controlled by a single authority this implies that you are not the owner of the data that you are creating but these centralized players are.We don’t have any control over your data or how it is stored📇.
5/15 ⚠️Single point of failure - If any non-redundant part of a system that, if dysfunctional, would cause the entire system to fail.

❌Censored - Web 2.0 is censored. As the data is owned by the central players they can censor, delete or ban anything that they want!
6/15 Ex-  Governments will often shut down servers or seize bank accounts if they believe a person is voicing an opinion that goes against their propaganda.
7/15 🔐Security and Privacy- Web 2.0 is vulnerable to attacks and many of them repeatedly experience data breaches. The Web2.0 players track our data and use it to show custom ads
8/15 Web 3.0 - It is the decentralized internet🔐🌐. It is the internet owned by the builders and the users with a token-based economy!🪙
Web 3.0 solves all the problems of Web 2.0 and that's why people say Web3.0 is the future!
9/15 Unique features of Web 3.0
- 📍Decentralized
- 🔐Data Security
- 💿Ownership of data
- ❌No Single point of failure
- ⚠️No censorship
- 🔑Privacy
10/15 📍Decentralized - It means that the web is governed by the users & there is no central authority that governs and handles the network. The powers belong to the people and all the platform-related decisions can be taken with the community's involvement transparently
11/15 🔐Data Security -  Blockchains are immutable. This means that once something is stored on the blockchain, it can’t be deleted or changed thereby Web3 offers data security.
12/15 💿Ownership of Data - The end-users will regain complete ownership and control of their data and have the security of encryption. Information could then be shared on a permission/need or case-by-case basis.
13/15 ❌No Single point of failure- There are no central controlling nodes which imply that there is no kill switch. The data is stored in decentralized servers even if one server fails to work there is no failure in the system.
14/15 ⚠️No censorship-  No one can censor or take your data down

🔑Privacy - Making transactions in Web3 doesn't require any personal info like bank account details etc.
15/15 All we need is just a wallet👝 which is super easy to set up and is fully controlled by the owner itself.

This is they key difference from Web2, which requires name, email, phone number, & other personal information.
