🧵My year of being harassed by antis (the tl;dr version).

In spring 2021, I noticed several artists I followed were getting intensely harassed on social media for drawing ship art (specifically KaeLuc from Genshin).
On May 10, 2021, I made a TikTok joking about making KaeLuc art in solidarity. Here’s the art I made.
Antis immediately went apeshit & have continued to do so to the present. My Tiktok account w/ 122k followers that I used to promote my business/earn a living was mass reported and banned 11 times. It was permanently banned in November 2021. My IG account was temp banned 9x.
If you search my name on Tiktok here’s what comes up on the hashtags. Look at those view counts. 22 million views. They are all hate videos. But don’t worry. It gets worse. So much worse. 🙃
I sell in artist alleys at anime cons. Due to the harassment I was facing (thousands of death threats, having my home address posted on social media multiple times, etc.) I chose not to make my con schedule public. Instead I posted it on my Patreon behind a paywall.
🐜 paid for my Patreon & leaked my con schedule. They used this to (unsuccessfully) pressure cons into banning me & coordinate IRL harassment against me.
They harassed me in person at Colossalcon Texas
And at Anime Frontier
They stalked me and filmed me without my consent
They did it again at Anime Fest
…more than once
They doxxed me for the Nth time and sent pizzas to my house
Multiple times
Note that comments like this were numerous on every stalking video antis made of me
They’ve gone so far as to stalk and film a random person with green hair thinking it’s me, hundreds of miles from where I live
And before you ask/suggest: yes, legal action is being taken. No, I cannot and will not share any details about that.
Circling back to my banned Tiktok account: it was my most effective marketing tool for my small business, my livelihood. Obviously it’s had a negative impact on my life. But that requires I be vulnerable on social media. Why would I do that after what I’ve endured?

Forgot to add: there’s no shortage of utter lies antis spread about me, using things I’ve said/tweeted that were taken out of context & horribly twisted to suit their narrative. If you’ve heard something negative about it, 99% chance is it’s a lie.

🧵A common theme I’m seeing in reactions to this thread are people assuming all antis are minors, then being shocked when I tell y’all adult antis exist. So I need to talk about this because it’s a huge 🚩
Last year when I started getting harassed, Seth + OOMF made a burner IG accounts to follow a bunch of anti IG accounts. We knew nothing antis at the time and he figured the more we could learn about them directly from the source, the better we’d know how to tackle the harassment.
That’s how we’ve learned a lot about how they operate. They got invites to their discord servers. They got follow requests accepted to private IG accounts. They were basically moles, except it required zero effort to blend in. 🐜 made zero effort to screen people in any way.

I know ppl who say this mean well, but it’s frustrating to hear “sorry you’ve faced this harassment. I hope you’re okay now.”

I am not okay & probably never will be. The harm that has been done to me is permanent and irreparable.
Even once the source of this trauma ends (if it ever ends at all), the trauma will still be here.

I will never feel safe at a convention again. I will never stop worrying if someone is going to show up at my house and try to hurt me. I’ll never be able to let my guard down.
I had several close popular artist “friends” who ditched me over this. Watching them get praised for pumping out products supporting mental health & queerness while they left me, a queer artist being falsely accused of pedophilia bc of ship art, to burn. That’s fucking hard.

It’s really telling that a lot of the people getting mad about this tweet are openly transphobic or are irate that pronouns exist.

If you think media consumption can turn someone into a pedo, I’m gonna also assume you believe people media consumption can also turn someone gay or trans. It’s the exact same mindset. I dare you to explain how you can turn someone into a pedo but can’t turn them gay.

Guess what? I had a fucking C-cup when I was 14. 🙃 Adults can look like kids. Teens can look like adults.
Pedophilia isn’t exclusives about being attracted to a certain body type. It’s about children being easy to control, manipulate, and overpower than mature adults. If you think it’s solely about how kids look, you have a lot of bullshit to unpack and unlearn.
If you’re still struggling to understand why this is a terrible take: it operates on the premise that CSA survivors’ bodies are responsible for pedophiles’ lust. It is victim blaming.

AND you’re really pressed that an artist is pandering to the paying audience that makes her crazy 💰?
Sounds more like folks are envious that she can rake in 💰 drawing anime porn & make racist tweets with zero negative impact on her income. Which is a valid way to feel. But just like…be honest about why you dislike her.
I am aware of the racist, dismissive shit she said about BLM and pro-cop sentiments. Obviously I take issue with that.
