You think I’m just selling the thread, but no. Do you know the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America? They’re one of the main “SFF” tastemakers, founded by Damon Knight in 1965. They award the Nebula Prize, which, along with the Hugo, is the premier award for SFF authors.
This is going to be a real trip, so strap in. We start with Marion Zimmer-Bradley, who was central to the SFWA clique and even served on the board in the 70s. MZB is a name you might know. She wrote Mists of Avalon, a feminist Arthur story you couldn’t fucking avoid in stores.
MZB was instrumental in lesbian fantasy literature, as well as an active witch (before reverting to Episcopalian) and a founder of the Society for Creative Anachronism, which is a major LARP group (if you know you know).
After her death in 1999, MZB’s daughter Moira Greyland revealed that MZB had sexually abused Moira from ages 3-12. Moira was not the only victim or the only abuser.
In fact, MZB’s husband and Moira’s father was Walter Breen. Breen was also named a SFWA “Grand Master”. Breen was a NAMBLA member who wrote extensively about “Greek Love”
Breen was the subject of a letter called “The Breendoggle” in which the Berkely SFF crowd debated what to do about this rampaging diddler. Be careful about reading the Breendoggle excerpts below. They are bleak.
Breen was eventually arrested and convicted for this. His daughter Moira, who he abused, was one of his accusers. And to be clear, Moira has made it clear that MZB, her mother, was worse than Breen.
Everyone in this crew knew. It was public knowledge. It’s a network of fucked up people. Remember ‘The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas’? What do you think that was about? It’s a disgusting scene.
Now, look at these. All promoted by MZB. All of these books are smuggling weird fetishistic sexual pervesion. I’ve started them and thrown them in the trash when I couldn’t take it any more. They’re disgusting. There are DOZENS, maybe HUNDREDS like this over DECADES.
MZB and the other perverts in the SFWA were and ARE actively promoting extreme perversion within science fiction and fantasy and by extension fandom as a whole. It’s a well established and active pedophile network.
Don’t buy it? We’re just warming up ⬇️
Samuel Delaney is another SFWA “Grand Master”. He’s the author of Dhalgren, a shitty po-mo scifi novel, as well as some of the most depraved pornog imaginable. This is celebrated by the SFWA and its associated freaks.
Ed Kramer, SFWA alum, founder of Dragon-Con, and Nebula host, is also a convicted child abuser. He was vigorously defended in this by other notable SFWA alums.
Then there’s Isaac Asimov’s son David Asimov, who skated on a massive child pornog charge thanks to Robert Mueller (!!!).
Isaac Asimov, of course, penned this little treatise under a pseudonym, and is ANOTHER SFWA Grand Master.
And remember Dr. Pizza aka Peter Bright? the diddler who was mocking pizzagate on here? Well he was tight with one Patrick Tomlinson, SFWA alum and complete lolcow.
Now I need to say that the network is the thing, not the SFWA. There are SFWA Grand Masters that I respect, and many members who are not complicit. The network uses the SFWA and the SFWA was founded in part to provide cover for this network. It NEEDS innocent members.
But this network is the reason for a lot of filth and degeneracy and trash you see in genre fiction and “fandom”. These people shaped tastes for decades. MZB groomed every female fantasy writer for 30 years.
It’s hard to overstate how much influence this cabal has had over genre fiction and “fandom”. Tens or hundreds of millions of books read. Decades of influence. Hundreds of authors SELECTED TO INFILTRATE CULTURE WITH SEXUAL DEGENERACY. Do you understand? This must be known.
And it’s the modern set too. I have no real proof or space in this thread but modern names like Mary Robinette Kowal, John Scalzi, and Cat Rambo all know or should know and they hide this information because they’re complicit or benefitting.
I’m out of space on this thread but not out of ammunition. There is so much I’ve left out. But you know me—I will write about this from other angles and cross-reference everything in the future.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I encourage you to support independent authors or read things written before WW2, before “fandom” closed ranks. Old publishing is dead, they’re already in hell, good riddance, their books are trash.
Thanks to @DavidVStewart @jondelarroz @JohnsonJeffro @RAZ0RFIST @ArchivistPulp @CrusaderSaracen @JesseLucasSaga @KKalvaitis @cirsova @NotJohnDaker @DaddyWarpig @BrianNiemeier and the whole #pulprev crew for all the info on this. All worthy follows. Support their work.
also my friend @wastelandJD has written extensively about the broader history of genre fiction and the “takeover” by these types of people in the postwar era. I am indebted, very good read here:
This thread is a salient criticism of my point and I generally agree. I tried to clarify that the cabal is not 1:1 with the SFWA or the genre itself, but it bears repeating.
Since many of you have asked, NO, your favorite author is probably not actively involved in anything like this. Even writing sex or examinations into sexuality isn’t a clear tell. Many have done that well and thoughtfully. I appreciate the thought from @ReReadingWolfe on this.
I would have said much of the same myself if i had the time or space.
As to this, I mean Breen’s behavior was known within the Berkely SFF scene. Not nationally. My ultimate point is not a criticism of the genre or even MZB’s books—it’s that a cabal of diddlers shaped a lot of modern fandom in their image by launching their perversions into the mix
@mrswhitewriter I don’t mean to “lump him in” because I don’t think he’s in this cabal, I just think MZB promoted things she likes. I’ll warrant I could have looked longer and come up with many better examples.
My last look at the party before I say a few affectionate goodbyes and drive home responsibly (I’m grateful for my friends and family around the holidays)
POV: your last look at the party that you can remember
“Anon, Last Christmas was specifically about the Christmas of 1985, it’s not applicable anymore, you need to move on with your life, please, Anon, wake up—“
This is a great story that gets at something I think about often. I think the whole 'sommelier' and 'tasting notes' thing is fake or real depending on what you thought it was.
As this and other stories prove, you can trick people. Even people with good palates. Taste and smell are such ephemeral senses - social engineering can be very powerful here. But that doesn't mean that a Bordeaux isn't a good wine, or that wine is indistinguishable.
Not to say that @FischerKing64 was saying that, I know he wasn't. This is just a tangent.
I do think if you pay attention to wine (beer, whiskey), you can identify flavors and qualities.
Times Up Let’s Do This: The Risky Consecration of LEEEEEEROY JEEEENNNNNKINS

You remember Leeroy Jenkins. Early modern internet culture meme. Normies played WoW. There was a bridge. The earth was not yet round. I saw the video and laughed, but wasn’t old or online enough to get interested in it.
But looking at it now, the way it all played out after that video is very weird. Many odd elements stand out. But Leeroy Jenkins is so old you don’t think to apply your current day lenses to the story. But the story is much clearer through those lenses.
I’m a loyal guy and discreet. Central to my whole thing. It’s what they pay me for. Do you know what it takes for me to publicly turn on a guy I’ve liked?
August Critic Jeffro Johnson recently said people don’t actually read Tolkien. I’ve said similar things many times. I really believe LotR/Tolkien has become a hyperobject with very little direct relation to the word on the page.
Recently I mocked one set of thin arguments people inherit and regurgitate about LotR. I’m completely right but the point is that these arguments don’t come from people actually reading and comprehending the words on the page.
Therefore it’s all very predictable and easy to mock. You can just see over time who heard what quippy tard argument from whom and merged it with their dim memories of the films.
