Why many of us are feeling so miserable, why it feels like we have lost a brother?

My introduction to his music was through a Mangalorean girl at a public place in Bangalore many years ago. Her phone rang and “Fly high” played as her ring tone. ++
Hearing Punjabi I got a bit inquisitive so asked her what song that was. she replied it is from your area. She does not know the name of the singer or lyrics, she just liked the music. ++
I searched the song on YouTube and dissed it as another Punjabi fukra singer talking about Guns and Jatts. That was my only interaction with his music. Did not hear any of his songs after that. I am not a very musical person anyway. ++
So why me and thousands of others are feeling so heartbroken for a mere singer? Why so many people permanently inking their arms? Why so many cars and bikes got his sticker pasted? ++
Why candlelight vigils are being held in India, Canada, Australia, America, New Zealand and so many countries around the globe ++
I and many others did not even know his music. Since his death, You Tube is recommending videos about him, 80% reels on Insta are about him giving a peak into the man’s life. He was the quintessential “Beeba Munda” what most of us aspire to be. ++
Pendu Punjabis are a weird lot. They dream about foreign when in Punjab and feel nostalgic about Punjab when abroad. If you ever been with a group of tipsy Punjabi boys abroad, you will get to know that "Wapas jana and “Pind kothi paoni ” is a common dream among all of them.++
Sidhu achieved that dream. He was living a life which most of us who are out dream about. It’s not a life of glitz and glamour, it is not about costly cars. It is about connection to the land of Punjab it is about living a rustic life, it is about being with parents ++
and much more which a non-Punjabi or even an Urban Punjabi may not understand. Another reason for his connection to all of us was his connection to people around him, how he treated everyone. It demonstrates not only his personality, ++
his down to earth natures but deep understanding of issues around him. Whether its safeguarding girls of his village or paying their school fees or him wishing for a superpower to cure all cancer patients. He understood problems people faced.++
I as a staunch RKBA and “Gun-Culture “supporter have always been against “Thug Culture” Punjabi songs propagate but a less than a minute Insta reel of him talking about guns changed my perception of him. Yes, he lacked many qualities which an ideal gun owner should have but ++
he understood why we need guns. How the young generation is being brain-washed to believe guns as some evil than mere tools. ++
I never felt so sad for a stranger but then he was not a stranger afterall. Sukhdeep was a “Yaaran da yaar”. An educated young man (An engineer to boot), who loved his parents, his land, his 5911 and all the good things we the people of undivided Punjab love. ++
You will always live in the hearts of people.

Rest in power chote bai. You will not be forgotten.
