Since last #WorldEnvironmentDay, we've made progress in tackling the climate crisis in #Brighton & #Hove.

Here's just a small taste of what @BrightonHoveCC has been up to...
🫧 We've installed water refill stations across high footfall areas in the city, so you can get access to water without the plastic
🏫 We're working with schools to help them adapt too, with 10 pilot schools working on our new 'our city, our world' programme
🏖️ Our black rock project has biodiversity at it's heart and we're working to encourage the re-emergence of local habitats
🐦 We've distributed 100 starling nesting boxes across the city
🚚 More of our vehicles are going electric, with both new vehicles in the council fleet and more charging points opened.
🌱 We are rewilding verges with our newly launched 'Wilder Verges Project' and rewilding continues at the former waterhall golf course
🐝 #Hove has the first bee-friendly bus shelter in the south of England
🏡 We increased the warm, safe homes grant so that people on low incomes can access up to £20,000 (previously £12,5000) to adapt their homes to keep them warm
🍎 We signed the Glasgow food & climate declaration as part of our committment to support sustainable food solutions
🛴 We launched even more school streets in the city, to reduce pollution at the school gates
🏗️ We completed new sustainable council homes and are nearing completion on even more
🌿 Work is continuing on our sustainable drainage project in Patcham too as part of our pilot 'Shaping Climate change Adaptive PlacEs (SCAPE)' project
🌎... and that's not even everything.

Over the next year, we will continue to work as fast as possible to introduce climate solutions in our city.

But before next #WorldEnvironmentDay, #Brighton & #Hove will go to the polls.
Some of the work we've wanted to do to tackle the #ClimateCrisis has been hampered by opposition parties, including the delaying of food waste collections and the removal of a cycle lane.

It's clear to protect our planet, we need more @GreenCllrs elected in our city.
Want to join @BHGreens in that effort? Get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

It has never been more critical that we do all we can to protect our planet. We have #OnlyOneEarth after all.
Correction - previously £7500 - we increased the amount by £12500 😍
