Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili OFR was a pharmacist and government administrator who gained International recognition.

She was the director-general of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) from 2001 to 2008.

She stopped the sales and consumption of
fake drugs in Nigeria, after she watched her sister aged 21, die after being given injections of fake insulin as part of regular diabetes treatment in 1998.

She put together a team of mostly female pharmacists and inspectors and started a war against counterfeit drugs that saw
many open-air medicine markets across the country closed down. Including one in Kano State after her officers confiscated £140,000 worth of fake drugs.

As of June 2006, she was reported to have secured convictions for 45 counterfeiters with 56 cases pending. Her efforts led to
increased public awareness about counterfeit drugs and more direct and purposeful surveillance at Nigerian customs.

She later became the Minister of Information and Communications after leaving her role as the DG of Nafdac in 2008.

When she was minister of Information,
Former President Yar’Adua had been down with illness and his Vice, Goodluck Jonathan was prevented from assuming full responsibility as prescribed by the constitution by a certain cabal in the presidency. There was pandemonium on who would let the cat out of the bag, the
courageous Dora struck.

She released a 42 page memo which that shook the Federal Executive Council of out of its slumber.
Nobody saw her coming, even her colleagues at the Executive Council.
When people were worried about her safety, she said "if I die, I die".
During her lifetime, she received 820 awards.

In 2016, two years after her death, her husband discovered 150 more awards packed safely in her boxes, bringing the total to 970.

No other Nigerian has won more.
A monument was built in her honour in Agulu, Anambra State where she was married into.

She died on 7 June 2014 after a battle with uterine cancer.

Chief Chika Emenike "Ojichukwu Nnewi" is the CEO and Chairman of KOTEC Group.

Eze Kanu Oji is Nigeria's longest monarch to ever reign in history and one of the longest in the world

Nelly Uchendu was a singer, composer and actress.
She was Revered for modernizing traditional Igbo folk music.

In 1976, Her song "Love Nwantinti" shot her to fame and it earned her the "Lady with the Golden Voice" sobriquet. She released six albums during her career. Image
Some of her other songs were "Waka", "Aka Bu Eze", "Mama Hausa" which she performed both in and outside Nigeria, most notably in London, England alongside Sir Warrior and his Oriental Brothers during the 1980s.
She was also an Actress, In 1986, She appeared as Ikemefuna's mother
in NTA Network's televised version of Things Fall Apart, and later as Tony's mother in the 1994 Nollywood movie Nneka the Pretty Serpent.

She died on 12th April 2005 in a hospital in Enugu State after a reported illness. She was aged 55.
