Less than a week after Uvalde, a school in Sand Point called 911 to report an intruder chasing and grabbing kids. An officer showed up but sat in his car during the emergency.
SPD claimed the principal was to blame for their non response, and local media repeated their lies.
This story should have set of the bullshit meter. They police already had probable cause and they can assist in emergences. Emergencies are WHY people feel we need cops, but as we have seen elsewhere, they have no duty to act, and they don't.
The other thing that should have set off the BS meter?
The cops in Uvalde tried to deflect blame for their deadly failures on to the school, teachers, and administrators too. It turned out to be all lies.
Evidence has shown that SPD lies, constantly. Why would this be true?
The media keeps repeating SPD's lies verbatim. Ex-Chief Carmen Best organized the abandonment of the East Precinct, she lied about armed extortion in CHOP, she destroyed evidence of her lies, which is a felony, then retired with a full pension. southseattleemerald.com/2022/06/07/bre…
The truth is that police generally DONT stop school intruders, from Columbine to Parkland to Uvalde - the cops refusing to intervene is the norm, not the exception. I am glad no one died in this incident. It sounded terrifying:

SPD is desperately trying to push a false narrative that only they can protect us in order to maintain legitimacy.
But, they don't stop crime, they don't 'solve' much crime, they don't investigate crime (like rape) so why are we giving them over half of our City budget?
SPD commissioned a study that showed that nearly 80% of 911 calls are non-criminal. mynorthwest.com/3479482/spd-re…
SPD claims they can't have non cop responders for any 911 calls because calls could become dangerous, but in practice they REGULARLY say they are responding to 911 calls-but don't. They admit they drag their feet on 911 calls they consider "low-level"
"Staffing crisis leads to longer 911 call response time" is their rallying cry right now, but THEY are knowingly causing the times to go up, on purpose. And what do they get for it? More and more and more of our money.
They cite the fact that they don't do their jobs as evidence. They claim the "staffing crisis" is causing them to be unable to investigate rape. First, they haven't been investigating rape since 2016 prior to the current crisis as @divestSPD pointed out.
Plus they ADMIT they prioritize sweeps, shoplifting, and optics over actually dangerous crime like school intruders and rape:
And what do the people of the City lose to this narrative? Over half of the city budget and with it the ability to solve problems. To house people, to (re)fund the services that people needed to get and stay healthy like medical, addiction, and mental health services.
We lose funding for our schools, the only institution that seems to give enough of a crap about our kids other than ourselves. We lose the ability to have trained first responders to deal with the vast majority of calls to 911. To have robust survivor services.
We don't have these things because policing and mass incarceration suck up all the resources needed to solve problems, instead it's spent grinding up the people they target (the unsheltered, the disabled, BIPOC, those living in extreme poverty)
And most people go along with it, because they want someone to call in times of crisis. Reality check though - it's an illusion, and it's costing people lives and it's costing people's children's lives.
We don't have to keep this dangerous charade going.

I am still reeling from the news that SPD officers clock in then refuse to answer any 911 calls while they go eat breakfast.
Greatest hits from the OPA report:
page 2- "these types of low-level calls often rectified themselves before police attend" and
page 3 - "sometimes an officers delayed response can be a form of de-escalation"
Please consider those comments in light of what the study SPD commissioned uncovered:

A bunch of retired Judge's have endorsed my opponent who thinks Seattle's problems are due to "under-prosecution." They reference her "experience" as the reason for their endorsement but - what experience? 🧵
I have been the attorney of record on over 600 cases.
My opponent? 6
I have had over 200 cases in Seattle Municipal Court alone.
