TIME FOR A #CHEDDARSTORM: WI’s coordinated campaign, Forward for Wisconsin @forwardforwi, went live last week. On Saturday, we officially launched campaign offices across Wisconsin. Now—chip into our Cheddar Storm fundraiser to keep them up and running!
secure.actblue.com/donate/wisdems…
Here at @WisDems, we’ve been organizing continuously—statewide and year-round—for more than five years. And the results speak for themselves. We’ve won nearly every state-wide race and elected leaders down the ballot.
Forward for Wisconsin’s mission is simple: reelect Gov Evers, defeat Ron Johnson, and elect leaders downballot. Having a coordinated campaign means that candidates aren’t competing for volunteers—instead, volunteers talk about Dems up and down the ballot.
The size, reach, and impact of a well-run coordinated campaign simply can’t be matched. Coordinated campaigns mean unity. And unity is key to winning.
On Saturday, our grassroots supporters turned out to support this important moment for Wisconsin Democrats—showing up to our coordinated campaign office launches across the state! In case you missed it, here’s Gov @Tony4WI in Milwaukee and AG @JoshKaulWI in Green Bay: ImageImageImageImage
In Madison, I helped launch @forwardforwi with volunteers and elected officials including Rep @MarkPocan. Wisconsinites from all over Dane and Rock County joined us, fired up and ready to put in even more work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. ImageImageImageImage
Rep @MarkPocan and I were joined by current and former electeds including @FrancescaHongWI, @Reyes4Schools, @AnthonyJGray608, @ShivaBidar, @Samba_Madison, @AKigeya, Randy Udell, Jacob Wright, & Kierstin Huelsemann, all MC’d by @sassylawyer89.
If you were in that office, you saw volunteers excited to elect leaders up and down the ticket, and elected leaders laying out exactly what’s at stake this election. Thanks to the whole team that worked so hard to make this happen—it takes a ton of planning and organizing.
These office launches are just one small part of the picture—between county parties and the coordinated campaign, we’ll be operating dozens of offices all over the state. Moreover, our hundreds of neighborhood teams launched canvasses from homes and local businesses.
Now that Forward for Wisconsin is officially live, we’re sprinting towards the general election. And that’s where the #CheddarStorm comes in—and where we need your help.
The #CheddarStorm is a progressive tradition in Wisconsin, launched every election cycle, where we work with our friends both near and far to make sure we have the necessary resources to win in November. You can see last cycle’s version here:
For this year’s #CheddarStorm, we set an ambitious fundraising goal of $50,000 by Thursday, June 9. Will you toss in $20.22 to help us hit it? We’re more than halfway there already—and your help could bring our fundraising push home: secure.actblue.com/donate/wisdems…
If Saturday showed me anything, it’s this: Wisconsinites are #AllinForTony, and we’ll do everything we can to defeat Ron Johnson. This team is going to elect leaders up and down the ticket.
We’ve built the most ambitious midterm organizing program Wisconsin has ever seen. After all, @forwardforwi is the largest midterm effort in Wisconsin history.

And its impact is going to be on full display this November.
While Forward for Wisconsin is historic, we have to recognize it didn't happen overnight. It took year-round organizing to get folks out to vote in every election. It was our grassroots supporters who chipped in year-round to help us build this state-of-the-art operation.
Now, it’s time to hit the gas for November 2022! Chip in here to our #CheddarStorm and your contribution will be split evenly between @WisDems, Gov Evers’s campaign, and the WI Senate Democratic nominee fund to defeat Ron Johnson: secure.actblue.com/donate/wisdems…

NEWS: Last week, Trump endorsed candidate Tim Michels for Wisconsin governor. Yesterday, a WI voter filed a legal challenge to Michels’ nomination signatures for failing to follow clear election integrity guidelines.

Read on/retweet to help us hold Trump + Michels accountable.
Context:

To run for statewide office in Wisconsin, a candidate has to meet some key requirements. Chief amongst them is that they have to submit at least 2,000 valid signatures from Wisconsin residents to appear on the ballot.
This is something every candidate for statewide office has to do.

A couple of weeks ago, our great Governor Tony Evers did just that, submitting signatures from across Wisconsin.

END OF MONTH DEADLINE: As goes Wisconsin in 2022, so goes the nation in 2024. But our state is a jump ball—and in the Senate, Gov, and down-ballot races, the stakes are massive. It’s time to hit the gas. Help us reach our $6k target by midnight 5/31?

There are two battles in Wisconsin that will shape politics nationwide—the race for Governor, with multiple Republicans squaring off to challenge Democratic Gov Tony Evers @Tony4WI, and the Senate race, where we have an opportunity to defeat self-serving Ron Johnson.
First, let’s talk about the race for Wisconsin governor. This is probably the most important race in the country for preventing a second Trump presidency—WI was razor-thin in ‘16 and ‘20. With elections this close and ongoing GOP attacks on our democracy, the Gov is key here.

May is Jewish American Heritage Month, and as a proud Jewish Wisconsinite myself, I’m proud to celebrate the legacy of Wisconsin’s Jews to our state’s history, from fur trader Jacob Franks in 1794 to the present day.

There’s a particular place that represents Judaism in Wisconsin to me: Gates of Heaven synagogue in Madison, where I grew up attending High Holy Day services, and where I became a Bar Mitzvah. It’s one of the ten oldest synagogues in the United States.

Gates of Heaven opened in 1863. Its original location was right by the State Capitol. Two years after its dedication, it became the site of the Wisconsin Legislature’s public memorial for President Lincoln after his assassination.

Wisconsin has a pre-Civil War abortion ban that could take effect if #RoeVWade is overturned. And WI Republicans want to go even *further.* In this moment of crisis, it’s even more critical to reelect Gov @Tony4WI and AG @JoshKaulWI. Thread on the state and stakes of the fight →
@Tony4WI @JoshKaulWI Trigger warning: this thread talks in general terms about horrific circumstances in which Republicans still want to ban abortion.
Wisconsin became a state in 1848. The next year, the state legislature passed a ban on abortion. Under this law, performing an abortion is a felony for which doctors could be punished up to 6 years in prison—unless necessary to save the life of the mother. docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statu… A screenshot of the WI State statute on abortion.

MIDNIGHT DEADLINE: Wisconsin’s fight to defeat Ron Johnson—@theworstsenator—is heating up. Over the last few months, his fundraising exploded, and he’s running millions of dollars in TV ads. We can’t let him escape his record. Help us fight back & chip in:
secure.actblue.com/donate/aprileo…
Last year, Ron Johnson was busy trying to block middle-class relief in the Senate, serving himself, and offending America. At the same time, he was raising money. Odd for someone who had promised in 2016 he wasn’t running again.
Here’s how much he raised each quarter:

2021 Q1: $545k
2021 Q2: $1.2m
2021 Q3: $797k
2021 Q4: $629k

Then... a jump.

On April 5, Wisconsinites voted in their spring local elections. There was no statewide candidate on the ballot. Last time that happened, in 2014, only 505,729 people voted. On April 5, 2022, it appears that number shot up by *86%* to more than 940k!
The Wisconsin @AmericaVotes team put together an analysis adding early county by county and race by race figures—which are still being finalized. The numbers are fascinating. The big picture is this: expect turnout, on both sides, to be WAY up this fall.
940k voters might not seem like much in a state where 3.28 million people voted in the 2020 presidential election. But local races get infinitely less media attention or engagement. The relevant comparison point is to previous spring elections.
