One common objection to universalism goes like this: if everyone is going to be saved, why does scripture seem to say that few will enter the Kingdom of God?

The answer: Yes, few will enter the Kingdom. But that does not mean all will not be saved.

I've been re-reading this article to increase my foundation and understanding of what the Kingdom of God is about. I will break down some of the key points to explain.

Not everyone is going to enter the Kingdom of God. Very few are. Narrow is the path, as they say.

First we must understand what the Kingdom of God is. The Greek is basileia theos, which quite literally means reign with God. It is talking about reigning with Christ.

Many are called but few are chosen. But only those who call on Jesus name, follow Him, and actually do what He says (Why do you call me 'Lord'?) are going to reign with Him. If you see God working on the sin in your life, then that is a good sign you are on the path!

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

God's grace is literally teaching us to be righteous!

But only He that overcomes will reign with Christ
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Psalm 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Psalm 2:10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth

Who are the overcomers reigning over? Who are they ruling over? Who are they judging? EVERYONE ELSE. The Vessels of wrath that will be broken. You will see they are going to break the sin right out of them!

Isaiah 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

God's judgments teach righteousness.

Isaiah 26:10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.
Favour = grace
God's grace teaches righteousness to the few chosen.

But Isa 26:10 tells us the wicked do not learn righteousness from God's grace. However they will learn it from God's judgments.

God's grace chastens.
God's judgments teach.
They do the same thing!

Do you see the picture?
God's few chosen, who enter the Kingdom, are reigning, and judging with Christ for the purpose of bringing in the full harvest. To judge the world so they ALL learn righteousness!

Romans 5:19 ... so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

It is just as Paul told us here. "the many" is the same "the many" made disobedient in Christ. All will be made righteous.

This is the purpose of judgment. Its not a net negative to condemn many to an eternal torture chamber; NO! It is to actually make everyone righteous, just as God's grace makes us righteous.

This is how Christ takes away the sin of the world. Its not some magic words. He actually does it. He either chastens us or teaches us, but one way or another we will learn righteousness.

So I hope you can see the purpose of the Kingdom of God now, and why only a few enter!
