Another blinding flash went off, the forensics team making sure to try and capture every bit of visual evidence they could gather. It's not every day a Prohero gets murdered in his own home, much less the number 3 hero.
Authorities were very
adamant on limiting the number of people in the crime scene. Only a select few were there.
There was Endeavour who had been staring into the distance since he'd seen how badly mutilated his son had been by the unknown killer. It was a shame, really. Him and Shouto only began
patching up their family issues.
But now he's gone. Just a heap of lifeless meat, surrounded by fractured ice and burnt wood, a clear sign that he had been fighting vigilantly until the end.
But Katsuki didn't pay that much mind to him. Almost as soon as he stepped into the
room, ruby red eyes had zeroed in on Izuku's shaking form. It hurt his heart to see his best friend like that. Usually bright eyes were bloodshot and his face had become so pale that the freckles on his cheeks were almost nonexistent. Katsuki fucking hated it. Those little dots
on his cheeks were his most favourite thing to trace whenever the greenette was out cold.
"Deku..." he called out, a thrill of excitement running down his spine when he saw those big doe eyes, filled with so much emotion, finally directed at him.
About damn time. Since Izuku
got together with that half n half bastard, Izuku barely spared him a glance.
But right now, in the greenette's most despondent and vulnerable moment, no one else was there to steal the spotlight. Izuku only had his eyes on him and that was what mattered.
"Mr. Todoriki, can
we ask you a couple of questions?" an officer asked before Izuku could respond to Katsuki.
The blonde hated how Deku's attention suddenly shifted to someone else /again/. He hated it much more that this stupid extra called his Izuku by that surname. Todoriki Izuku. It's been
five years and the sound of it still makes him sick to his stomach.
He had been so pissed by the interruption of the faceless man that he was almost tempted to take a second life today. However, the sight of the frail nerd curled up grounded him. Izuku always did bring the best
out of him. That's why he loved Deku so much.
He unconsciously balled his fists till his bruised knuckles were white. This shit hurt like hell. He guesses Shouto wasn't number 3 for nothing. Stood a good fight but nothing against the current number one. And especially to a very
scornful number one.
He had been patient all this time. Tried to forget how that dead fucker beat him to confessing to Izuku upon graduating UA. Katsuki tried to sweat it all out in the battlefield when the greenette excitedly told him of the news of their engagement. He was
even strangly calm during their exchange of vows. But there was a limit to everything.
✂️✂️✂️
It was after one of their more gruelling missions when it happened. They chased the villains for several months and it all took a toll on them. The ensuing fight left almost all of
them injured. Surprisingly, Katsuki had been one of those severely in pain. He was scolded to no end by Aizawa who had told them to stay in their positions. But how the fuck could he when Izuku was in danger?! Next thing he knew, he had been stabbed on the shoulder which made him
feel /elated/. This was proof of him protecting Izuku. A mark and brand of his undying love for the greenette and he really wanted to go back in time and get more of them if he could. Maybe he should have position himself so that he'd get stabbed in the heart instead, could've
been more romantic and poetic.
Maybe Izuku would be so moved with the gesture that he'd drop his dumbass husband like a sack of potatoes and run straight into his strong capable arms instead?
"..that would be great. Right, Todoriki?" he'd been so delirious with the blood loss
that he didn't care if he just spat all that out straight into Shouto's face. At that time, the dual quirk user had kept his facade of being a dependable hero and still brought Katsuki to aid despite the burning rage he felt.
He already had his suspicious with the blonde hero.
After all, he overheard Katsuki talking to his squad a day before their graduation about how he'd pour his heart and souls into telling Izuku his honest feelings. How, after all their years of misunderstanding, they might get their happy ending.
Such a shame that Shouto got the
happy ending for himself.
He believed that Katsuki would eventually get over it. And for a while it seemed like that. But after that mission, he began to notice the lingering touches. Shouto wasn't stupid. He could spot a man interested in his husband from a mile away.
That
little slip up Katsuki had when he was addled with pain apparently gave the blonde hero more courage. He had absolutely no problem showing off how much he wanted Izuku.
He'd demand that they get paired up for patrols, purposely took the overnight missions so him and Izuku could
would be attached to the hip and share a bed once in a while.
They had argued over it many times. Izuku was insistent that it was just Katsuki missing his bestfriend. That had frustrated Shouto to no end because it would always end with Izuku crying.
"Don't you trust me?"
And that would be the end of that conversation.
But one day Izuku had come running into his arms, frazzled and inconsolable. It was only the third day of his five day mission with Dynamight.
"You were right," he said in between sniffles.
His husband was not only emotionally
distraught. There were tangible proof too. How his lips were kissed raw, the side of it even bleeding a little. There were finger shaped bruises around his neck and arms. Then there was his scent. There was the usual smell of tuberose and lilies, but there was a milky undertone.
Shouto trashed the whole place then and there. The omega had to physically restrain him from burning their home down. The beta had been so outraged. Him and Izuku had been planning to build a family soon through alternative means,
considering that betas can't physically impregnate omegas. They had the rest of their lives all mapped out but it's all fucking ruined now.
"I'm gonna fucking kill him!”
But Izuku pleaded him not to do anything.
"It was my fault! I didn't know I was going into heat and he
just acted out of instinct, Sho! He begged and grovelled for me to forgive him after. He did confess that he...had feelings for me but he never wanted it to happen! Please don't do anything rash! Let's think this through!"
Upon seeing how utterly wrecked Izuku was, Shouto had
considerably calmed down but it still all came down to one thing. He needed to give Izuku an ultimatum.
"It's either we leave Japan and never turn back or we get divorced here and now, Izuku."
Tears were shed and harsh words were exchanged but Izuku relented in the end.
After all, he loves his husband dearly.
They were bound to leave that very same night, gathering what little necessities and things of sentimental value to them. But then there was a knock on the door and that was the last thing the greenette could remember.
✂️✂️✂️
"Go on, Deku," Katsuki's gravely low voice snapped him out of his scattered thoughts. The omega felt his palms start to sweat in the alpha's presence.
"Mr. Todoriki, just a few minutes of your time, please. We just really need to know a couple of details," the officer said in
an apologetic tone. He knew how difficult it was to be in the same vicinity where the love of your life passed. Even more difficult when you were out cold when someone ruthlessly took his life away.
He stilled himself and stole a glance at Katsuki's direction. His stomach
dropped when he saw how he already had the alpha's attention. All of it. There was an eerily happy smile on his face, so peculiarly out of place in the current environment. There was a deafening ring in Izuku's head, drowning out how Katsuki assured the officer that Izuku will be
with him shortly after Katsuki talks to him. /Comforts/ him and the man relents.
The grieving greenette allows himself to get dragged into a hidden corner and shivers when he feels the possessive hands on his waist. Katsuki was observing him like he had just created the cure to
all terminal illnesses. Worshipping and Reverent. Izuku let out a whimper when Katsuki knelt down and kissed his flat stomach through his sweater. He heard the alpha coo and chuckle, before standing back to his full height and directing Izuku with a look so loving yet demanding,
it almost brought the omega to his knees.
"You'll be a good omega, right?" Katsuki asked quietly, caressing freckled cheeks that started to tremble. The blonde tightened his grip when he didn't get an answer until Izuku gave a meek nod.
Almost instantly, Katsuki smiles.
"Good boy," he praised. Viridian eyes widened with fear when the looming alpha crowded him until their fronts were touching, lowering himself a little to whisper against the omega's ear.
"Now be a better one and get this over with," he motions to the mess /Shouto/ infront of
them. Something cracks inside Izuku at that. Once again taking in how the man he married was just that. A mess on the floor.
It was funny actually. One minute a person could be brimming with life and love and anger and then the next they're just...gone. It's all just tiring.
No. Even if they've crossed the line of friendship multiple times, him and Katsuki weren't dating. The various dates that the blonde so openly parades infront of him made that obvious.
But they had a rule.
An unspoken one but respected each and every time. They only shared heats and ruts with one another.
Without fail, the blonde would come knocking on his door, his musky scent more pungent than usual and pupils blown and darkened. Every single time, they surrender their bodies to
each other. An exclusivity that Izuku so foolishly held onto. A dire miscalculation that he chose to blow out of proportion. Because he thought this meant he was special to Katsuki.
His ears were currently ringing, the booming bass of the party at its peak making it worse. But
Katsuki lost all hope of being with Izuku when both of them presented as alphas at 14.
They meet again ten years later at a seedy bar and he had to double take.
Izuku was very obviously enjoying acting like some dumb omega whore on some filthy alphas lap.
It wasn't unheard of. There were alphas out there who enjoyed going against their nature. Opting to be thrown around, dominated and used. Only finding pleasure in the touch of someone much /stronger/.
He gives the familiar male a once over, carmine eyes appraisingly roaming over
Izuku's sinewy body. He looks strong. But Katsuki was stronger.
That little detail sent a jolt of excitement through him. A first. He never felt this way for someone of the same second gender.
He'd only ever gone out with those soft delicate omegas that he could easily break in
Izuku couldn't help but stare. Kacchan was still so devastatingly handsome after all these years, and his traitorous heart never stopped beating for him.
Especially when they're like this.
With the inebriated blonde casually pulling Izuku into his arms.
Izuku tried so hard to stay away. He really did, but it seems like the drunk blonde's inclination to monopolize his childhood friend was something he never grew out of.
"Deku," Katsuki slurred out, nuzzling into the juncture of Izuku's neck and shoulder. The greenette tries to
pull away subtly, hands still affectionately carding through the surprisingly soft spikes of his best friend's hair.
He lets out a soft hum, his quiet way of asking Katsuki to continue.
"You know I love you, right?" the drunk male says like it's the most casual thing in the
As Shoto's best friend, Izuku had the privilege to hang out in the Todoroki household and Enji becomes increasingly endeared by him that, by the end of the year, he's buying little snacks Izuku likes for whenever he comes over plus a pair of bunny slippers.
Plus if he gives a /tiny/ push for Shoto and Izuku to fall in love (because he wants the Midoriya cuteness to infiltrate his bloodline) and he "accidentally" sets up candle lit dinners and lock them in the pantry room. But they really are just friends so he sulks until Izuku
promises to adopt a dog with Shoto and now that dog is the most spoiled animal in the world and Izuku is in their house 50% more.
Izuku grows fond of Enji too, even crying to Shoto one day about him finally experiencing what having a dad feels like as they cuddle to sleep.
