Even though Dabi won the poll, I noticed a lot of you wanted Aizawa so I thought ‘why not do both?’

.

Izuku stood in front of the theatre that Kacchan had picked for their date for hours. He watched people come
and go, families and happy couples who showed up together. He ignored the pitying looks thrown at him, clearly waiting for someone who wasn’t going to show. The time for the movie that he had bought tickets for had long passed, yet he still waited.
It was a nice night, he noted. The weather was perfect for the post-movie and dinner stroll he had hoped to take Kacchan on. The sun had still been in the sky when he had arrived, now it was nowhere in sight. The world was instead illuminated by street lights, businesses, and the
half-moon. There was so much life around him yet there was dead silence in the little bubble he created for himself as he stood waiting. He didn’t think Kacchan was going to show. So much for changing and moving on.

“Problem child?” A familiar voice jerked him out of his
self-loathing and he turned to see someone he hadn’t in seven years.

“Aizawa-sensei?” Disbelief coloured his voice as he took in the sight of his old high school teacher.

“I thought it was you, but I wasn’t sure. Your hair isn’t green anymore.” The gruff voice of Aizawa
brought back memories of sitting in his class, hanging onto his every word. He had been the first teacher that didn’t make it their life mission to make him as miserable as possible.

“Oh god, don’t remind me!” Izuku had dyed his hair green and kept it the colour for his entire
high school career. It had seemed cool and edgy at the time but was a nightmare to look back on. Why did he pick green of all colours?

“It’s pretty hard to forget. I think all your other teachers used to call you green bean.”

“Oh no!” He whined, throwing his head back dramatically. “I remember Yamada-sensei calling me that to my face.”

“I always wondered if one of them slipped up in front of you.” Aizawa
sighed softly. “Why are you standing out here alone at eight o’clock at night?”

“I’m supposed to be on a date right now.” Izuku explained forlornly, remembering why has was there in the first place.

“Are they late?” The younger huffed with a sad sort of amusement.
“Yeah. Our date started at five, that’s when the movie we were supposed to see played. I don’t think he’s going to show up at all.” He explained, picking at his nailbeds in frustration; a habit he’d had for as long as he could remember.

“Kid,” Aizawa started but Izuku cut him
off immediately. He didn’t need nor want any more pity.

“It’s fine. I don’t know why I expected anything else.”

“What movie were you going to see?” His former teacher asked instead, changing the subject.

“That new action film with that guy that is kinda average but everyone
loves. I don’t know. Kacchan was the one to pick it out.” Izuku explained flippantly. Figures he would agree to watch a movie he didn’t want to see just to spend time with someone who couldn’t care less. “I would’ve gone with the psychological thriller with the actress from that
zombie show. Do you know which one I’m talking about?”

“The Last Witness?” Aizawa supplied, amusement in his voice.

“Yeah! That’s the one. It looks amazing.”

“That’s actually what I’m going to see.”
“Really?” Izuku had figured the man was there to see a movie but he hadn’t guessed they would have similar tastes in films.

“Yeah. I was supposed to go with Hizashi but he came down with the stomach bug that’s been going around school. He told me to go without him.” He
explained, holding up two tickets. “We had already bought the tickets beforehand.”

“That’s bad luck.” Izuku winced sympathetically, running a hand through his black curls.

“No, I think it’s good luck.” Aizawa cryptically said. Before he could ask what that meant, the man
continued. “Do you want to take the extra ticket?”

“Oh, I couldn’t intrude.”

“Midoriya, I’m offering. The ticket is already paid for, so if anything you’d be doing me a favour. Plus, it’s a movie you want to see.”

“That makes a lot of sense.”

“Unless you have to be home
by a certain time?” An outstretched hand held out the two tickets in an open invitation.

“No, I’m free all night. Eri is at a sleepover with Shouto on call if there’s an emergency.” Izuku explained, taking the extra ticket from Aizawa. The two fell in step together, entering
the theatre together. Being inside was a huge change after standing outside for hours.

“How is Eri? She’s how old now?” The pair gave their tickets to the bored-looking teenager in the window and went to the snack stand.

“She turns ten this winter, which is crazy!” Izuku
gushed, quickly beating Aizawa in taking out his wallet to pay for both their food and drinks. “She’s in fourth grade. Shouto’s sister is actually her teacher. Eri adores her.”

Aizawa looked like he wanted to say more, ask more but fell silent once they reached their seats.
While Izuku could talk about his daughter forever and a day, he also really wanted to see the movie and not disturb the other viewers. They sat in comfortable silence, sharing the large popcorn between them, eyes transfixed on the screen.
“That was amazing!” Izuku squealed, hopping next to Aizawa who watched him with a slight smile. “I can’t believe it was all in her head and she was the actual killer. The twists were awesome and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to figure out what was going on.
My brain is so confused!”

Aizawa discarded all of their trash, keeping his gaze on the young man with fond amusement. “Thanks for taking my extra ticket and keeping me company.”

“Thank YOU for inviting me along! I had a great time.”

The pair left the theatre full of junk
food and with smiles on their faces, one more noticeable than the other. It was just as nice a night as it had been when they entered the building. They began walking together, keeping up a steady conversation and catching up.

Since graduating high school, Izuku had followed
through with his plans to go to medical school and become a doctor. He worked mostly with women who had a hard time trusting doctors due to bias, always the hero. He was turning twenty-six in July and knew that his long-time friends Hitoshi and Shouto already made plans for the
day. He adopted a kitten in January that had taken up residence near the dumpster at his work. Eri named him Catpuccino due to his coffee-looking fur pattern.

Izuku talked a lot about Eri, which was fine for the bother of them. Aizawa wasn’t much of a talker but liked to listen
to the younger man. He remembered a decade prior when his student had tearily confided in him that he had gotten someone pregnant. The girl had been an upperclassman who had never once interacted with the first year except for them both being at the same end of mid-terms party.
(mild SA warning)
Izuku admitted to not having any memories of that night apart from arriving, being handed a drink, and waking up the next morning next to the girl. He had in turn gone to Nedzu, the principal, who expelled the upperclassman. She was later arrested for multiple
counts of date rape. She gave birth in prison and a DNA test proved Izuku was the father as he had been led to believe. The whole debacle ran through the second half of the first year into the second year. Izuku claimed parental rights over his daughter and worked ten times
harder to finish high school and graduate while raising Eri. Shouta had never been so proud of someone.
Eri apparently loved school and reading. She had a baby pink bike with a basket that Catpuccino liked to curl up in while she rode around the neighbourhood. Her best friend was
Kouta, his coworker’s nephew, and they did everything together. She loved bunnies and kept trying to catch wild ones against her dad’s wishes. She was incredibly spoiled by her honorary uncles and her only blood family in her life was her father. Izuku had apparently cut himself
off from his mother when she demanded he give Eri up for adoption and branded her a mistake that would ruin his life. Shouta hadn’t known that had happened while Midoriya had been in his care.
“I feel like I should apologize to you for everything you had to deal with when I was in school!” Izuku exclaimed in breathless laughter. “I didn’t realize being a problem child was genetic.”

Shouta’s face hurt from smiling so much, even if it was just a small one. He couldn’t
remember the last time he had so much fun with another human being, not minding the late hour of the night despite usually loving his sleep. They parted around midnight with plans to meet up again soon.

Before they knew it, they started dating. Shouta never saw himself dating
one of his former students, usually only seeing them as his kids long after they graduated but Izuku was different. Izuku made him laugh which was already a feat. He was kind and incredibly easy to be around and talk to. When they got to the point of introducing him to Eri, he
was smitten. Eri was a wonderful little girl who adopted him as her Papa almost immediately and Shouta knew he was in for life.

Izuku and Shouta Aizawa got married on a Sunday under a clear sky surrounded by their friends. Eri, who had turned thirteen the previous winter,
cheered to finally officially have two dads. She stood up at the mic in front of everyone and followed in her father’s footsteps and became the best problem child she could.
“Thank you Uncle Kacchan for being the reason Daddy and Papa are here today! I can’t thank you enough for being such a bad friend. This is all because of you!”

Katsuki winced under the young teen’s words and sank into his chair. He had only shown up to hopefully talk Deku out
of marrying their former teacher but never got close enough to do so. He watched in silence and frustration at the couple who were only together because he had made one stupid choice all those years ago. The new husbands shared a kiss and Katsuki downed his wine.
“To Izuku and Shouta!”
