NEW: After voting for a Jan. 6th investigation last year, incumbent Republican Congressman Michael Guest is being forced to defend his seat in a GOP primary runoff.
Rep. Michael Guest “is a card-carrying member of the Establishment who voted to create the Jan 6th Commission,” his GOP runoff opponent, Michael Cassidy, said.
Though Michael Guest voted for a failed bill to establish a bipartisan January 6th committee, he voted against the eventual January 6th select committee amid backlash.
“What was Speaker Pelosi’s role and what by her being involved and having discussions, what is the level of blame that should be placed on her for what happened on Jan. 6?” Michael Guest said in June 2021 as he defended his prior vote for an investigation.mississippifreepress.org/24610/rep-mich…
Though Michael Cassidy claims Michael Guest attacked Donald Trump when he voted for a January 6th investigation, Guest, like all other Mississippi House Republicans, voted against certifying the 2020 election on January 6th as Trump demanded.mississippifreepress.org/24610/rep-mich…
Michael Cassidy: “I'm calling on Mr. Guest to give the voters the opportunity to see us debate so he can be held accountable for voting for the Democrats’ Jan. 6th Commission ... and for giving $53 billion to Ukraine when American families are suffering.”mississippifreepress.org/24610/rep-mich…
Whoever wins the June 28 GOP primary runoffs in #MS03 will go up against Democratic nominee @ShuwaskiYoung.

No Mississippi incumbent in the U.S. House or Senate has been forced to defend their seat in a runoff since 2014.
Last night, both Rep. Michael Guest and 4th District Rep. Steven Palazzo, who is under an ethics investigation, were forced into GOP runoffs.mississippifreepress.org/24553/rep-stev…

NEW: Rep. Steven Palazzo has been forced into a GOP primary runoff for the first time in his career. He needed 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff; he got 32%.
Once all votes are counted, either Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell or Hancock County businessman Clay Wagner will emerge as Palazzo’s opponent in the June 28, 2022, Republican primary runoff. mississippifreepress.org/24553/rep-stev…
The ultimate GOP nominee will face former Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree, who won Tuesday’s Democratic primary, and Libertarian Party candidate Alden Johnson in the November general election. mississippifreepress.org/24553/rep-stev…
Let's be clear Mississippi: There is NO party registration here!
You may vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary.
If there are runoffs, you must vote in the same party runoff as in the primary.
Then, you can vote however you want in the general! #Election2022
So if you vote in the Democratic primary and the Republican party primary goes to a runoff, you can't then vote in the Republican runoff; only the Democratic one (if there is one).
But you can vote in the Democratic primary if you choose and then vote for the Republican candidate in the general—or vice versa.
Don't let ANYONE tell you you must vote for the same party in the general election as in the primary/primary runoffs.
Ron Eller, a GOP congressional candidate running for the seat currently held by Rep. Bennie Thompson, says he is proud to have been endorsed by former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
Republican candidate Ron Eller participated in MFP’s candidate questionnaire to share his ideas on policies.
On education, he supports increasing access to charter schools and helping parents who choose to send their kids to private school. mississippifreepress.org/24242/candidat…
Ron Eller says we need to respond to mass shootings by putting “rapid response teams on site at schools,” “hardening targets” and banning foreign national non-US citizens from buying, own or possessing weapons. mississippifreepress.org/24242/candidat…
Democratic congressional candidate Hunter Avery says he is reluctant to support serious gun restrictions “mainly because of the growing threat of fascism/white supremacy in the country.”
On education, Hunter Avery, who is running in Mississippi’s 1st congressional district Democratic primary, says he “would make all public colleges, universities, and trade schools free” and give all “educators a raise of at least $20,000 per year.” mississippifreepress.org/24153/candidat…
Hunter Avery says he thinks “we need to federally decriminalize & legalize recreational marijuana.”
“As someone who works in corrections myself, I can say imperatively that locking up drug users is the worst thing you can do for them.” mississippifreepress.org/24153/candidat…
Republican Mark Strauss says he wants to “help the vaccinated.” He believes in the false conspiracy theory that vaccines are “bioweapons designed with the purpose of DEPOPUTATION.”
Asked his position on guns laws and mass shootings, Mark Strauss says “we have very good laws on the books.”
“So many of these ‘mass shootings would have been prevented if it were not for our incompitent local police and corrupt FBI and DOJ,’” he wrote. mississippifreepress.org/24140/candidat…
