Many people urge (until now!) for a "deal" with Putin. Let's have a look on his promises. On Aug 28th 2008, after Russian attack on Georgia, Putin gave his interview to Germany's biggest TV channel ARD and said very clear, Russia recognises Ukrainian borders incl. Crimea. /1
As one clear sees in this interview, Putin aggressively denies any ideas about Russian plans to annex Crimea or attack Ukraine in another way. He literally says to a journalist, that Georgia is an emergency case, and Russia will stop after gaining control over S.Ossetia. /2
Actually, "this is my last conquest, I'll stop now" is the most popular lie among aggressive people - not only dictators, but also abusers, thieves, blackmailers. Adolf Hilter promised the West "to stop" many times: in AUT and CZE. Putin repeatedly used this lie too, watch: /3
On March 18th 2014, after annexation of Crimea, Putin hold his speech in Moscow, saying: "Don’t believe those who try to frighten you with Russia and who scream that other regions will follow after Crimea. We don't want a partition of Ukraine". He lied. /4
As we know, in just a few weeks, Russia attacked other regions of Ukraine, invading Donbas and starting a 8-years-long war. But they continued to repeat their lies about "this is the last thing what we take" because they knew, this is the lie Western politicians want to hear /5
Just before the upcoming full-scale invasion with missile strikes on ALL Ukrainian cities, Russia turned their lies on for a maximum volume. On Dec 08th 2021, Putin called a question about a possible attack on Ukraine "a provocation", and Russia: "a peaceful state" /6
Many Western politicians continued to gladly swallow this bite, saying "Putin himself denies such attack plans, what can we do?" On Jan 19th 2022, Russian Deputy FM Ryabkov stated, Russia has no plan for any aggressive actions. We will not attack, strike or invade Ukraine". /7
On 20th Feb 2022, 4 days before invasion, Russian ambassador to the US Antonov said, Russia recognises Donbas as a part of Ukraine, does not have any claims on Ukrainian lands, does not have plans of any attack and considers the Crimea issue closed. /8
Effectively, until the last hour before the invasion, Russia openly lied about its aggressive plans, and was obligation. The same happed to other statements of Russia before. Let us have a look for example on Syria case. /9
On Sept 28th 2015, Putin said in his interview to BBC, Russia has no plans to get involved in war in Syria /10
Of course, he lied and sent his troops to Syria. In 2 years, on Dec 11th 2017, Putin said, Russian troops have fulfilled their mission in Syria, and gave an order to return his troops to Russia. He lied again, Russian troops are still present and fighting in Syria /11
Why am I writing this? To demonstrate that no single word or promise Putin and ministers make, can be taken as something real. They lie, and lie again, and lie again. Their words cost nothing, and the only policy towards Russia would be to stop any negotiations with Russia. /12
This is actually very logical. Imagine you have a business partner who ALWAYS lies. He breaks any promise, steals your money, does not pay for your service, damages your property and lies again. Would you expect, NEXT TIME HE DOES THINGS RIGHT? Of course not. /13
So the only logical way to deal with Russia is to create conditions when Russia CAN'T act aggressively. To have strong army, to impose sanctions for any violation, to force Russia back into normality. This works perfectly in our society, which knows how to deal with sociopaths.
This will also work perfectly with Russia, which is not a "special" country and has no "mysterious soul". It is rogue state, a spoiled mobster, who used to bully its neighbours and to bribe influential politicians. It can be put back into its place very easily. /END

THREAD Let's start a long thread about how Russian book market prepared Russians for a full-scale war against Ukraine, NATO, the West, and promoted stalinism and nazism, and how this was ignored by the West. Keep seat belts fasten, you will see a lot of nasty things here. Image
One of the first indicators of Russia preparing for a full-scale turn to dictatorship and a global war was the mass production of books about cool sides of Stalin and Stalinism and about upcoming war against the West. These books appeared on Russian bookshelves in early 2010s /2
The appearance was so massive that it could not be a coincidence on a book market which was under a strict control of secret police FSB. "Be proud, not sorry! Truth about Stalin Age" "Stalinist's Handbook", "Stalin's Repressions: A Great Lie" and "Beria: Best XX Cent Manager" /3 ImageImageImageImage

A remark on the level of naivity of Germany's Russia policy. In later 2021, new German coalition adopted its coalitions treaty, promising visa-free travels for young Russians under 25, as they believed, this will help to promote democracy. Every rapist in Bucha was under 25.
Back than, in November 2021, I wrote a whole thread on the problems in Russian and Ukraine parts of this Treaty. I was severely criticised as a person who does not obviously understand basic facts. The reality demonstrated, I was right - unfortunately.
A side remark: I really cannot understand why "young" is so commonly used as "progressive" or "pro-democratic". Adolf Hitler was just 43 as he took power, and Konrad Adenauer was extremely old: 73 y.o.! - as he was elected as a chancellor.

THREAD “Russia will not attack the West because Moscow was not capable to occupy Ukraine” is a very wrong + illogical statement. Let me explain why
1) Russian state is switched into its war mode. It is not a short-term military operation, it is a permanent war what Russians live;
2) Since Chechen wars in 1994-2009, Russia was involved in at least 3 wars: Georgia, Syria, Ukraine. Out of these three, every next one was more bloody and brutal, what is logical: barriers for violence have fallen in Russian society. Russians are not expecting a fast victory now
3) The Russian concept of aggressive wars is extremely colonial. From the Russian perspective, it is logical to send “subhumans” to die on front. In the current war, we see ethnic minorities over-represented among Russian troops. Their losses pro 100,000 are sometimes 100x higher

"But how can I help Ukraine?" many ask these days. Here is the answer: a thread with grass-root initiatives of targeted support for very different cases: army, civilians, NGOs. @kamilkazani had an idea to collect the links, and I was happy to provide info!
Read the whole thread, you will find very different initiatives: support for battalions of territorial defence who fight in the South; NGOs who evacuate civilians from the war zone; donations for a cyclists' association who provide NGO activists who bring food, with bicycles.
Each initiative mentioned in this tread by @kamilkazani is hand-picked and personally verified by myself. I either personally know these people or got them recommended by those who I personally know and whom 100% trust. These people already received your support and are thankful!

Vladimir Putin stated, he wanted to re-introduce the „Mother Hero“ order in Russia. This made an impression, there is no similar order in Russia. This is a mistake, Russia has such Hitler-Nazi-inspired order (Thread) /1 ImageImage
In 1938, Adolf Hitler founded a "German Mother Cross" for birth of 6-8 „Arian“ kids, to get more cannon fodder. In 1944, Joseph Stalin liked this idea and copy-pasted it including the colours of the ribbon. The difference was: it was not a cross anymore, and awarded for 6-10 kids Image
Exactly as Hitler awarded only breeding of healthy „Aryan“ children, Stalin awarded this order only to those who gave birth to healthy children. If a child died before reaching an age of 1 year, it did not count. At least one kid should have reached an age of 10 years. Image

In just 25 minutes Grand Final of Eurovision Song Contest will start in Turin. For this reason, this account goes temporary into a #comedy mode and will post only #ironic to #satiric tweets about the #ESC2022 in live-ticker regime. They will appear in the following thread 👇👇👇
Actually, the ESC should be a part of any international relations master program, especially in the US. Nothing explains the relations between European countries better than the ESC voting. The exam must be like: "predict the number of points Greece gives to Cyprus".
ESC is weird, crazy, often creepy, old-fashioned, freaky, way too serious, nationalistic, frivolous, secondary, mind-open, narrow-minded, often very sexualised, strongly regulated show. So it is very European, yes. The US definitely must add it to IR master programs.
