I’ll get flamed but idc. This is (imo) the worst conclusion to any arc in the series. A decade of buildup just for Kaido to be taken out by a Walmart version of Doffy’s finish followed by a timeskip that destroys all the momentum of the declining action.
How do you come off the last chapter with shit like this. Why tf would you do a 7-day timeskip when there are still so many loose ends that need to be addressed.
Did we skip the Dawn? Literally no point in Zunesha coming. Skipping the consequences of G5 and completely ignoring Zoro’s grim reaper situation, nothing on the emperors, Hiyori and Momo reunion, etc. Not even gonna mention the botched plot lines established for Zoro in Act 2.
On TOP of that we got 2 of the lamest deaths ever. Izou, one of the characters with the least amount of screentime but at least there’s an emotional connection with Kiku but we don’t even get to see her reaction??
And Ashura who NOBODY thought was dead and one of the people who suffered the most throughout the 20 years dies. How does Oda expect us to take these seriously when he made two emotionally resonant “deaths” but did a fakeout and brought them back in the same arc??
Instead of spending time on useless filler scenes like Ice Oni, bathhouse scenes, etc, Oda could have saved some chapters from those and added them to the climax so it wouldn’t be rushed like this.
Even though it has some of the highest peaks in the series, I just can’t look the other way and ignore everything wrong with it. The beast pirates were trash, anticlimactic fights, unnecessary plot lines, abundance of fakeout deaths, etc. Narratively it’s just messy.
I guess it’s my fault for expecting something more out of both Kaido and Wano. Kaido is at most a B-tier villain and because of this conclusion, Wano went from an 8 to like a 6/10. I’m just really disappointed.
