Ok, this is inspired by that post where #JiangCheng’s ymj is filled with spite fulled over achievers who always dominate the intersect competitions.

Except here’s the divergence:
Seeing as ymj and lp were completely decimated bc of the wens, except for jc, it took several years+

For the sect’s disciples to grow and learn enough to adequately represent ymj. And thus, in a show of sportsmanship (mockery) the other three great sects (mainly llj) graciously let ymj recover for a few years before they were required to have their disciples represent them +

During the competition.
Except they did not take into account how far and hard spite and anger can drive a person, especially with adequate teaching. Ymj knew it was the underdog, so they trained like the underdog, they fought like the underdog.

The silent simmering anger at their treatment, at being looked down upon by the other sects fueling them.
So, when it was time for ymj’s first appearance at a cultivation competition since the end of the ssc, everyone was collectively shocked as, one by one, all the -

Top spots in the competition were taken over by ymj disciples.
Night hunting? Ymj won.
Sword ship? Ymj won.
Poetry? Ymj won.
Art? Ymj won.
Dance? Ymj won.
Cultivation techniques? Ymj won.
Seals? Ymj won.

Everywhere one looked it was impossible to not see the glaring purple lotus at the top of the charts.
The other sects came, expecting to see ymj and the young slj humiliate themselves, only for them to run away with their tails tucked between their legs.

One thing was for sure though, they would not underestimate ymj and slj again.
That isn’t to say ymj didn’t dominate the next competition. They did.
And the one after that.
And the one after that.
And the one AFTER that.

The ymj’s disciples’ drive is actually partially responsible for creating the rumor that jc is a slave driver during training to unimaginable degrees. How else would they get so good that fast?
(I mean, they’re not wrong, but he’s not that bad!)
