The Proud Boys. Some are newly charged with *seditious* conspiracy. Yesterday a group of them appeared in DC court and pleaded not guilty to new charges. Some are seeking to move their trials from DC.. claiming jurors are biased
At 2:03 mark.. that’s the assault at the Peace Circle. They toppled the barricade and knocked officer unconscious. (Officer who testified last night)
One of the defendants in this assault has long history of arrests for assaulting women, including a pregnant woman
At 3:39 mark.. the medieval hand-to-hand combat via police body cam. Per Feds… Brian Mock of Minnesota is near this attack. And also captured on body cam. Mock has been defending himself in his case. Also has history of alleged threats against women/child. (Not guilty plea)
At 3:59 mark, that’s Dom Pezzola of New York. Accused of being Proud Boy & smashing open window with police riot shield. Not guilty plea in seditious conspiracy case. Been in DC jail more than a year. Argued for release, including saying there’s lack of hygiene in jail
At 4:13 mark… group gets thru east front windows. Soon thereafter man with Confederate flag would walk thru
At 4:30 mark, Joe Biggs. Accused Proud Boys conspirator
Hours before hearing last night, Biggs requested change-of-venue to move criminal case outta DC. And yes.. he cited media coverage on @StephenAtHome and @JoeNBC among reasons
(Yes.. those shows air nationally)
I’m telling you. There were MANY confederate flags on Jan 6 at Capitol.
This is from 4:48 mark of video
At 5:11 mark. The gallows
A European journalist recovered the orange rope, which was eventually cut down and dropped on ground (by outraged Good Samaritan after mob had shifted away)
Per my reporting, noose is in possession of FBI Washington Field Office
At 6:37 mark
And …. another Confederate flag ===>
At 7:39 mark.. chants of “Nancy, Nancy” as rioters ascend stairs
So many, many threats against Speaker Pelosi on Jan 6. One defendant acknowledged saying aloud that she wanted to find Nancy Pelosi “to shoot her in the friggin brain”
She pleaded guilty to … misdemeanor
At 8:00 … the Oath Keepers alleged “stack formation”
A group with tactical gear & allegedly part of group staging weapons in Virginia in case Trump invoked Insurrection Act
They’re struggling to firm up trial dates. Keeps getting delayed. Likely late autumn
At 8:16 mark. OathKeepers inside. A bunch of this group are in Pretrial detention. And have been for a long time. They’ve complained about inconsistent access to laptops and tablets and attorneys to review their cases.
Stewart Rhodes, founder of OathKeepers is also jailed
At 8:34 mark. House Chamber. The peril Members faced at this moment. Some were in upper level crouching down
At 9:01 mark … Pauline Bauer. She’s used sovereign citizen language in court, has defended herself in court, made outbursts at judge, defied court orders. So .. despite being a low level defendant .. she’s been jailed for nearly a year awaiting trial. Trial could be spectacle!
At 9:49 mark. The crutch being brandished as weapon.
My list of make shift weapons includes: baseball bats, hockey sticks, bear spray, bottles, wooden plank, ax, tomahawk, signs, flags, sharpened flag poles
And speaking of Confederate Flags… Justice Dept says Kevin Seefried is the man carrying this flag thru the Capitol on Jan 6
He goes on trial …. Monday here in DC

In a 52-page sentencing memo submitted to a federal judge, former Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has asked a judge for leniency at sentencing. Menendez’s filing specifically asks that “the Court should impose a sentence that relies heavily on alternatives to incarceration
(MORE)
In perhaps the most striking passage in this submission, Menendez’s attorneys argue: “Senator Menendez is not the typical defendant. His public office and the accompanying attention it draws distinguish him. And of course the charges of conviction in this case arise from his position, and the actions he took as a United States Senator, a position he resigned in worldwide disgrace after his conviction.”
Attorneys for Menendez, who was convicted at trial of federal corruption charges, also argue, “Senator Menendez—Bob as he is known by his family, friends, constituents, colleagues, and foreign dignitaries—is atypical in ways that extend far beyond the evidence presented at trial. He has lived an extraordinarily good life. One marked by great challenges— his father’s suicide, poverty, and forging a role for Latinos in local and national politics—and distinguished by deep devotion to his personal and religious ideal of service.”
NEW: Jan 6 defendant Jay Johnston, former "Bob's Burgers" actor, asks for leniency at sentencing Monday
Defense says feds "persistently overstated Johnston’s participation at the Capitol..because he is an acclaimed Hollywood actor. government is using his status to make a point to the public"
MORE: Some interesting phrasing in Jan 6 defendant Jay Johnston's defense memo to court
"..Amid the chaos, Mr. Johnston soon found himself by the Tunnel leading into the Capitol Building on the Lower West Terrace.."
Defense: "Mr. Johnston found great success in Hollywood as an actor, writer, and producer including accolades for his role as the voice actor for Jimmy Pesto, Sr. in the animated series 'Bob’s Burgers' and as Officer Taylor in 'Arrested Development"
NOTE One of the plaintiffs, Yusef Salaam, attended the Sept 10 debate venue in-person The suit alleges Salaam and Trump had this exchange after the debate
ALERT: Judge Tanya Chutkan has just allowed the unsealing of approx. 1900 pages of Jack Smith records in the Trump 2020 election conspiracy case.
Heavy, heavy redactions. Lots to go through.
But note that the records include Mike Pence's announcement on Jan 6, 2021 that he would not overturn results
The first batch (720+) pages includes heavy redactions, but also has transcripts of depositions/interviews between Trump aides/allies and the House Jan 6 Select Committee.. including questions about the "substitute" batches of electoral votes
NOW: Justice Dept asks for 27 months prison in Jan 6 case of Dana Bell, arguing “history cannot repeat itself” after the 2024 elections. Prosecutor tells judge “deterrence” is critical
Bell is accused being “agitated, angry & violent” as she accosted police & media on Jan 6
Prosecutor argues Bell engaged in “prolonged, abusive and violent” behavior. Prosecutor says Bell grabbed police officer’s baton, as police tried to clear mob away after Ashli Babbitt was shot
Prosecutor says Bell uncorked a “verbal barrage” toward officer Jeff Smith, who died days later by suicide
Prosecutor says Bell is heard telling Smith “get a real job”, “no one supports you”
