Just finished my favorite #WWDC22 lab of the year, an a11y design lab. I got some fantastic tips and comments about what I did right and what I fell short on. I learned about some a11y technology I didn't know about and learned new ways to test my apps.
One of the Apple employees said that they had low vision and I couldn't believe it when they said I had some of the best large text work they've seen in a while. I legit teared up when they said that. Take the time to add a11y support to your apps. It feels great helping people.
This UI element I added to Museum Shuffle is something I worried I would get “in trouble“ for doing but it got an enthusiastic response during my lab. For people with low vision it’s much more clear what happened instead of a star just filling in its color when saving a favorite.
