This documentary on ITV about Spire private hospitals & private surgeon mutilating women & men for money is damning. We have to reinstate the NHS. Spire have had £millions of public money while NHS has been shrunk/rationed, replaced by US ICS denying us care #RenationaliseNHS
Over 4,000 cases been recalled by Spire private health company after this "surgeon" operated unnecessarily on & mutilated potentially thousands of patients and no safeguarding, no scrutiny, no checks & balances, going back 22 years!! Yet govt gave £millions to Spire in pandemic
He was a consultant who "rented a room" at Spire private hosp, there have been no changes to the law so this type of criminal behaviour could happen again. What will happen when there is no NHS left to pick up the pieces when private sector negligence causes harm? #ICS_Is_Not_NHS
Was actually over 5000 patients affected going back to the 1990s So where were the Govt & @CQC? scrutiny & inspections, how could this be allowed to go on so long? Then consider how long will current changes in NHS/private sector b allowed to carry on dangerously w/out review?
Eg. "Discharge to Assess" which has allowed hosp trusts to send patients home before assessing their ongoing needs- govt have refused to provide figures of how many patients are readmitted within 28 days of being discharged in this way #dangerous Eg.Any review of SISS or CASS
contracts in West Lancashire where the CCG gave vast amounts of NHS funds to private providers like Virgincare without providing clear evidence of safety for patients or even "value for money".Local resident who has tried to scrutinise has been given the runaround
& threatened with legal action by @WestLancsCCG for asking questions. It's public money, we deserve answers. The CCG ceases to exist on 30 June & it has been less than transparent, the Lancs & Sth Cumbria ICS is not under any obligation to be transparent, to hold meetings in
public, provide emergency services to us all etc so what hope have we of getting any answers or being able to scrutinise their operation? I read that the ICS in Greater Manchester has been in existence for 6 years & hasn't published its papers, no transparency, no accountability
