On this day two years ago, the Christopher Columbus statue at the MN State Capitol was torn down by Indigenous women. A rope was tied around the statue’s neck & people pulled together on both sides of the rope to rip the statue from its pedestal. 🧵... unicornriot.ninja/2020/christoph…
A couple hours after the Christopher Columbus statue was toppled mid-evening in Saint Paul on June 10, 2020, pieces of the statue were driven away by city workers on the back of a truck as the gathered crowd cheered. ↕️
Indigenous & anti-racist activists had been calling for the removal of the Christopher Columbus statue outside Minnesota's Capitol bldg for decades. Quote tweeted is an action from 2015 where activists chanted "tear it down!" while in front of the statue.

Three years ago, 200 animal rights advocates descended on the Excelsior Hog Farm on April 28, 2019 “to expose the reality of what is happening to the victims of the ‘meat’ industry and to challenge the current mindset within our society,” according to the group Meat The Victims.
During the farm action, ~65 of the activists got inside the building where they witnessed deceased pigs in a dumpster, pigs laying on the ground unable to get up because of injuries, and “row upon row of pregnant pigs crammed inside metal crates the size of their own bodies..."
