Ukraine got what it got, cause we never believed things can be solved by wars. We used to be a not aggressive nation, suppressed by more powerful neighbors. Lithuania was the kindest ruler of our lands, btw. ordinary people didn't care about the army for years until 2014. 👇
Before the war most of us wanted to stay out of politics, secretly thought of Russian culture as superior, thinking of those screaming we need to preserve and flourish our own identities, as crazy nationalists. Russian always dominated our media space.👇
Just imagine if you were ashamed of your own culture? And many of us thought of it, and the Ukrainian language, as "rural and therefore not posh". I remember all of this clearly, I am that old already.👇
This was an ideal environment for our corrupt pro-Russia politicians to sell the army, and weapons, and destroy the national pride as a concept that is dangerous and nationalistic. We were allowed to be Ukrainians but had a strong identity crisis. We knew we were not Russians.👇
At the same time, we couldn't explain to foreigners what was the difference? We all spoke Russian. Those, who heard Ukrainian, were sure it was Polish. We were treated as secondary human beings for ages. Allowed only to have limited access to national culture, limited resources.
It was an ideal time for Russia. Extract all the resources from the former colony, and sell to it, control your biggest competitor in the region by totally erasing its basic national features, denouncing them as nazism
But everything has a boiling point. Yanukovych was soo extremely greedy that he managed even to anger our own top businessmen. They financed the EuroMaidan revolution, joining the people's rage, and supporting the basics of their needs until the end. Even pro-Russian Lyovochkin!
Blinded for ages, we finally saw how screwed we were only when the Russian puppet was ousted. I really hope, other nations, so deeply dependent on Russian fossil fuels won't repeat our fate. This could be prevented by helping us to fight what is now our common war.
I once had a very convo with Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk. He said that concessions he and Kuchma made in the 90s, prevented Russia from starting its war back then. And I said, "Well, guys you postponed the inevitable to have some fun time in power for yourselves."
And I see some Western leaders doing or wanting to do the same right now. And at the same time those who don't want to make concessions, are dubbed warmongers.

109 days of war. Best of my people are dying every day, or are "re-educated in filtration camps". Those forcibly taken to Russia, are told Ukraine is a fake state. Only a few countries of the world recognized this as genocide. Many don't even dare to call this Russian invasion.
Those, who support us, pay dearly - inflation. Others prefer to use whataboutism. As if the fact that Ukraine had corruption and far right somehow justifies brutal invasion that even Putin admitted is about lang grab.
My government failed at the start of the war as it always fails in difficult situations. Nobody believed that this was possible in 21 century. Unfortunately, they are to narcissistic to admit it. But that also doesn't mean all of us deserve what we have now. No one deserves this

I see that people think that Ukrainians need to be flawless to be supported.
Ukraine is corrupt, like many other countries, including really cool ones. Russian war showed Kremlin has numerous paid lobbyists, appeasers in Europe and US. So yeah, corruption exists everywhere. Ukraine has far right, like any other country.
But that doesn't mean are going to sell Western weapons in black market, or that we are Nazis. We are a normal country, we have our problems. We did not attack anyone. We didn't bomb Donbas and we don't attack our own cities just to make Russia look bad. This propaganda

Imagine a situation, where your people die for freedom, where your people lose homes and sacrifice just because it's insane to want to live in Russia, where they even ban certain words, turn people into screws. yet people still come and say "you do it for US".👇
Yes, US helps us with weapons and we are grateful, cause otherwise, we would not last for long. US has its own interests, so why shouldn't we accept US weapons if those interests benefit us? This is how alliances work. Nobody would risk just to help others preserve freedom👇
no one needs fucking nuke-filled crazy country that will threaten to annihilate each country that doesn't want to accept dictatorship on an international level. US wants to counterbalance it, the UK wants to return its mighty international reputation. what is wrong with that?👇

Russian tanks got to Kyiv as rotten corpses. I was watching Ukrainians not tanks. They cautiously approach, gently touch the machines with same look on their faces,.as if it is a dangerous predictor, that seems to be dead and conquered..but you still afraid it might come back Image

Please don't allow yourself to be led by news cycles. This approach has already failed so many countries. And now Ukraine's fatigue can lead to the largest tragedy of the 21 century - the biggest country in Europe will be torn apart and turned into a colony. Thousands died here👇
Now leaders don't talk anymore about Mariupol, Bucha, Borodianka. They talk about grain, about food for others. But that food was grown on Ukrainian fields, by Ukrainian people currently being robbed, killed by Russians who invaded the country. That is not their land.👇
You can't cant force a country to surrender its sovereignty, ports, and resources just for "the sake of more people". As soon as you force Ukraine to concede, you are done. Cause Putin will go farther. Others will follow his example. world order, shaky now, will fall!

Thread about things that are obvious that are so difficult for so many people to understand. Every country has borders, even Ukraine. Those borders formed after WWII and then were cemented by agreements of 1990-1991, signed by ALL sides, with no presence of armed people around.👇
They were acknowledged by the world. They must be respected. 2014 EuroMaidan was internal crisis Ukraine needed to solve without anyone's “help”. If a neighboring country is not satisfied by the results of the revolution, it doesn’t give it a right to just grab lands.👇
No Nuland was not organizing protests, she was just getting PR, posing for pics. Our oligarchs and businessmen, who got tired of Yanukovych’s greed and desire to get all their actives, were paying for the tents and for the food and other stuff protesters used.👇
