#APIC2022 satellite symposia: gojo dedicating an hour and a half to resiliency in IP
Listening to the March 2020 story of @HopkinsMedicine brings back memories and drives home while we were all separate it was a collective experience/trauma
Showing graphically the emotional highs and lows associated with disaster response.
Pause for a second to acknowledge where you are in that graph. (Am i tweeting to avoid this exercise? Yes. Yes I am)
Word cloud exercise showered right now thise in this room we’re feeling tired, exhausted, and abandoned
IP in Hopkins were in the command center 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Sought for their expertise and the target of some emotional outbursts.
Sound familiar to any IPs out there?
The RISE team is one level of peer support and if you don’t have this or another service for your people please advocate for these resources!
iP and RISE partnered during the pandemic.
At @christianacare we do this too!! Our center for workplace wellbeing did wellness rounds and IP recently started doing them too!
In case you need to hear this:
You do not need to be a superhero. You are in fact human.
What do you look like when you’re out of your zone? Are you anxious? Withdrawn?
Knowing what does that to you, or what behaviors indicate you may be out of your resilient zone, can help you start recovery or protect your resiliency.
Children are naturally resilient. See them with a blankey? That comforts them and keeps them resilient.
What’s your blankey? What comforts you and brings you back to resilience?
What are you currently doing to widen your resilience zone?
How are you keeping yourself well at a time when you’re feeling tired or overwhelmed?
What do you need to accomplish this? For you? For your team?
Who can you partner with?
Bring someone to mind that supported you during the pandemic?
What did they say or do to support you?
Cheryl Connors, DNP (speaker) suggests, if you’re comfortable doing so, offer gratitude in some way (tb editorial: if even just internally I think)
Do I want to comment on the talk to the speaker? Yup.
I don’t think I can with becoming a blubbering idiot. This topic hits me hard but it is amazing to see programs like we have at @christianacare supporting caregivers.
Super thankful for the comments from those in the crowd.
