If your patient comes through a normal entrance and your intake process isn’t well known or we’ll rehearsed it will devolve into utter chaos. #apic2022

If your hospital doesn’t have an after action process (report, meeting, etc) get one. You fix problems that occur after each event to improve for the next time it happens. Keep a running list so when you debrief you have those raw notes.

I’m in the pseudo clabsi outbreak presentation #APIC2022

Good review of mediports, communication when an outbreak is suspected, and what steps to take when considering whether or not bacterial isolates are ‘related’ so to speak. #apic2022

Observations in procedure area showed some opportunities including drift from standard practices.

What is the role of IP in SSI prevention? We’re about to find out. #APIC2022

Well, given the volume (up to 300k patients at risk) and cost (financial and other) SSI is important to prevent.

Despite COLO and HYST moving down, and below an SIR of 1, it hasn’t been statistically significant.

HPRO AND KPRO are above an SIR and remaining flat
