When I did the film 'Trans Kids' I was told that the number of detransitioners was "vanishingly small". Then I interviewed Cale, a detrans woman, & I realised that this wasn't true.
See the clip here: via @YouTube
Thanks for the help @The_StateMedia!!
"From meeting Cale I realised that there are people out there like me, who were the child I was; intense, lost mixed up. We connected with each other and we both saw that we'd both been through a thing and it was really fairly awful."
"She had options that I didn't have. But she has the scars to prove it. She had taken a path that I could have taken. And I wondered silently, had I taken a path that she could have taken?"

When I started following reddit.com/r/detrans/ there was less than a 1k members - there are now 34k members. Not all of them are detransitioners but many of them are. Please read their stories:
.@genspect hosted a webinar for detransitioners on #DetransAwarenessDay and I urge you to listen to the detrans presenters at this webinar. It's 5 and a half hours of detransitioners speaking but we broke it into segments so you can listen to it easily

In May 2021 @rodericogorman launched the LGBTI+ Youth in Ireland Europe: A two-phased Landscape and Research Gap Analysis
The research was conducted jointly by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) and NUI Galway,
and reviewed all relevant research on LGBT+ youth (defined as under the age of 26) in Ireland and Europe between 2000 and Sept 2019.
In the DCEDIY review, the authors found no studies on conversion therapies in sexual and gender minority (SGM) youth in the literature since 2000
The Dutch Protocol is the basis on which the entire puberty blocking experiment rests.
For this experiment they used two scales, a boy scale and a girl scale and these two scales asked very different questions. 1/4
The first scale asked a distressed girl whether she liked looking like a girl, doing girl things etc. Then the second time round, after treatment, they used the boy scale and asked this biological girl if she liked looking like a boy and doing boy things. 2/4
So for the first scale the answers were a hard no, and she scored high for gender dysphoria. Then the second time round the answers would be a hard yes, and so she'd score low for gender dysphoria. And the presumption was that the treatment NOT the insane switching of scales 3
A much needed webinar. By my count there is now 4 transwomen in the women's prison in limerick. That's 4 out of a capacity of 28. I've heard there is 29 there now so the prison is over capacity. 3 of the 4 have a history of sex offences and 3 of the 4 are brutally violent.
Thrilled to see yet another Irish top psychiatrist, Prof. Patricia Casey, bring public attention to the range of problems that have been created by the Tavistock's careless approach to kids with gender dysphoria independent.ie/opinion/commen…
As Prof Casey says "A review by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare, on foot of a massive rise followed by a huge decline in referrals in 2019, said: “People with gender dysphoria, especially young people, have a higher incidence of co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses
"..self-harm behaviours and suicide attempts… it is not possible to ascertain to what extent gender dysphoria alone contributes to suicide, since these psychiatric diagnoses often precede suicide”. It identified anxiety disorder in 32.4pc, depressive disorder in 28.9pc...
So 9 years after the study begins - and about 10 days after the high court judgement that sought the findings of this study - the Tavistock puberty blocker study is finally published bbc.com/news/uk-552821…
Key point- the kids feel worse on blockers: 'Preliminary findings which showed that after a year on blockers, there was a significant increase in those answering the statement: "I deliberately try to hurt or kill myself", were not replicated across the duration of the study."'
"The published study showed that treatment with the blocker brought about no change in psychological function.
This differs from Dutch findings "which reported improved psychological function," upon which many gender clinics have based their treatment."
Well HELLO FINTAN!! GREAT TO SEE YOU! Finally!!! A major player in Irish media @fotoole has FINALLY decided to speak up. "In this feverish climate, I have no great hopes for any attempt to address these questions. But that does not remove the duty to try." 1/
Yes, journalists do have a duty to try & that's why it has been unconscionable of the @IrishTimes to ignore this issue in recent yrs. In 2018 I did a Channel 4 doc 'Trans Kids: it's time to talk' on the medical scandal that is unfolding today with the Judicial Review-10.30am- /2
- yet why no substantial report from the Irish Times? In Jan. 2019 @RTEprime_time did a piece with Donal O Shea, Paul Moran, Heather Brunskell Evans, James Caspian, Graham Linehan and myself were all interviewed for this Prime Time piece. /3
