Forces is not just any other job, your lives are at stake, you need guarantee that the Govt will take care of your family and you for the rest of your lives. (1/n)
With this new scheme just being 4 years, you instill uncertainty into the soldiers, that what will I do after 4 years and for my family?
Why should I give away my life fighting the enemy when my future is not secured by the State? (2/n)
And soldiers are the backbone of the army, the officer recruitments stay the same as of now (barring SSC), the hate and anger of soldiers towards their officers will increase, seeing they are getting all benefits, and us not, intra ranks problems will only increase.
(3/n)
And, talking about efficiency. Govt says that only top 25% will be kept based on performance. Okay, but who will judge that?
It is very subjective in forces. Promotions work on many factors including individual officer-soldier relations, which will be so unfortunate. (4/n)
Copying Western Armies will not work in India, with massive unemployment and rural India dependent on Armed Forces recruitment to feed their families, it messes up Indian Economy, Indian Rural Family Structures and most importantly, National Security. (5/n)
If concerns about Ministry of Defence budget are valid, then the Government can remove MLA/MP Pensions, introduce the same 4 year scheme in other Government sectors, cut down on parliamentary and presidential welfare budgets, advertisement budgets. Many ways to tackle. (6/n)
The Government says that they will be preferred in other security services like CAPFs and State Police. But they eat up from the existing quota of seats only, right? Further unemployment. (7/n)
Private companies may make many offers on table that they will prefer Soldiers in their positions due to discipline and all, Everything is a fluke. Being from a Fauji family, I have only seen companies prefer ex Soldiers on posts of security guards and security heads. (8/n)
11 lakhs upon retirement? Is soldier lives that cheap in India? You guaranteeing 11 lakhs and asking them to fight the enemy? Well. (9/n).
Stop trying to fix the system which is not broken. Demand more budget from the Centre on Defence or atleast implement minimum 10 year service like SSC for the soldiers as well with some sort of pension, medical and canteen facilities. 4 years is nothing.
End. (10/n).
