My observations
•Thought was political, execution was by inexperienced.
•Juvenile document I am talking about Version 1.0, Age increase from 21 to 23 became Version 1.1, CAPF induction became Version 1.2. How many more versions.

•It displays the fact that there was no thought given, no discussion, no wargaming and each & every ‘client’ was kept out
•Language is not experienced military, it’s a give away
•My guess that veterans in ruling party were involved is doubtful too

•There is no depth in the literature, it is the most basic document and the standard is what one finds at lower than unit level in Army
•The document seems to have been made in one office, with one person in charge and another one person to clear.

This is a 32 page document with first four pages having random pictures, six pages on Agniveer and TWENTY TWO PAGES OF WHAT FOREIGN ARMIES DO.

FIRST STEP TOWARDS "INDIGENISATION" of Armed Forces
•Not with Navy or Airforce, but it turns the army selection system by 180 degrees.
•Army starts with ‘physical tests’ to weed out weak, then conduct written tests.

•Overturns preferential selection of candidates with family/relatives in Army.
•All India Merit & All India Class, if strictly implemented will break the back of British Indian Army controlled by Infantry & responsible for mediocrity in Senior Ranks.

Holes in the scheme
My earlier observations in my thread and first video are correct:
•Does not define what exactly is ‘Agnipath’.

•No one from Armed Forces has been consulted.
•Veterans on rolls of party seem to be involved.
•It was to be presented as a fait accompli
•It has no clarity on selection process
•It conveniently puts ‘highest standard of training’ on Service HQs

•It announces shorter initial training and longer training on absorption
•Does not clarify ‘Regimentation’
•Vague on Caste, State and Religion based units, on whether they retain the identity or induct All India Class

•The complete scheme clearly demonstrated no brain storming, no discussion, no war gaming and no trials.
•JUST IMPLEMENT IT.

My Prediction
Implementation and intent is in grey zone and hence simply cannot predict how this will work in future.

1/ This is interesting. #Agniveer A particular year we were close to war with Pakistan. My General Officer Commanding, who would frequently call me for operational discussions asked me if I could make all nine Infantry Battalion Mortars (81mm) Platoons fire together.
2/ Being from Artillery and an Instructor I said yes. Infantry Battalions have one mortar platoon with few mortars, each manned by three soldiers, and all mortars under platoon commander, who has two soldiers to help. To guide the fire, there are another four jawans.
3/ Say about 30-35 in total out of which at least 25-26 are jawans or Sipahis (whom Agniveers will replace). It takes 10-12 years of training to become detachment commander of one such mortar. There are 8 such mortars in each battalion. They require years of training together

Post Kargil war, my unit was inducted in Batalik for 2 and half years. I received OVER 175 (out of approx 500 strength) RECRUITS who had received full one year training. They were of no use to me. I trained them day in and out. Under 5 years service was called RECRUIT !!!
All UNDER FIVE YEARS SERVICE had different rules. They were kept directly under me, the Commanding Officer, for training. We were firing live at LoC. After gruelling training and tests they were cleared. Those who failed remained under training. WHERE DOES AGNIVEER FIT IN?
Night Firing requires artillery to fire live in absolutely pitch dark. Try to open your cupboard in your room in pitch dark. Here he does that in rough terrain, loads bombs, lays guns, drives, keeps communication intact, observes enemy and much more ALL IN ABSOLUTELY PITCH DARK.

1/ Plian Rice? No, it’s ‘Anatomy of Corruption’. This is ‘Basmati Rice’ sold in Canteen Stores Department (CSD). Some cheap rice packed beautifully in one & five kg. bags.

Civilians drool over CSD but don’t how vendors get in CSD & cheat forces in full daylight.
2/ IAS Bureaucrat heads the ESM Welfare under which CSD functions. A Major General equivalent officer from Army, Navy and IAF head CSD in rotation. Service officers are posted to manage CSD. Huge number of Central Govt Civilian officers and staff man the org.
3/ With hundreds of sellers for each item, just a few brands are seen on shelves. Same brands across country in each CSD. Getting an item approved is the vendors job, creating demand his staffs. The staff is placed strategically across India to meet ‘user’ to generate demand.

1. My wife passed away and a year plus later my daughter informed me that I was going to be a grand dad soon. Traditionally, I, father, as lone surviving parent, would have been most useless guy around in pregnancy days, post pregnancy period, baby’s growth etc. I was a fighter.
2. I decided to be my daughters ‘mother’. Right from the day she informed me, I planned her traditional diet, learnt by researching through nights, YouTube, elders, books and everything I could lay my hands on. The FIRST batch of laddus for 30 days was ready. Problem? Delhi & UK!
3. Vaccum packing machine, food grade plastics, freezing laddus for 96 hrs, packing as sending them by parcel to UK!!! The first lot saved my daughters life since she was eating nothing. 15 days later the second different type of laddus were made and frozen. 21st day dispatched!
