I personally call on all @NCGOP members and leaders, as well as all #GOP members of the General Assembly, especially @NCHouseSpeaker to lead on this issue. Any obviously anti-semitic organization claiming to speak for Republicans should be unequivocally reminded they do NOT.1/
This is not "cancel culture," this is integrity, and leadership. In a time when perception is reality (sadly), and destructive messages like the ones sent by Ms. Donovan's group can make it into every home in NC in seconds, it is incumbent on good leaders to challenge claims. 2/
Ms. Donovan uses age-old anti-semitic tropes about @SloanRachmuth being a Jew to smear her fact-based reports about education in NC, all of which are *non-partisan.* Sloan cares about the *truth,* not loyalty to a party, and good leaders appreciate that integrity. 3/
The @NCGOP should not stand by silently while people of integrity like @SloanRachmuth are smeared just b/c she is not a Republican partisan. Keri Donovan is obviously "loyal," but if her loyalty prompts her to use anti-semitism to defend the @NCGOP, so what? 4/
There are reasons enough for North Carolinians to mistrust, and turn away from the @NCGOP; it's getting harder every day to differentiate them from Democrats. Many of us see our choices as Democrats, and Democrat enablers. 5/
@NCHouseSpeaker Moore, Ms. Rachmuth has done this state a great service for the past few years, but instead of allowing her to help you -- really help you -- differentiate yourselves from the Democrats, you appear to have allowed the worst elements in the party to go unchecked.6/
Will you speak up @NCHouseSpeaker and make abundantly clear that you do not want 'help' that looks and sounds like the anti-Semitic attacks leveled at @EdFirstNC and @SloanRachmuth ? Will you lead, or will you claim this has nothing to do with you?7/
See it does have to do with you. When they explicitly claim to be speaking FOR Republicans, and attack on the grounds that they are defending Republican political interests in this state, you at the @NCGOP and @NCHouseSpeaker are who they are talking about. 8/
Will you say "Not in our name," or no? Will you force us to read between the lines, and assume your silence is consent for this to continue? Would you rather alienate the anti-semites claiming to speak for you, or Republicans and would-be GOP voters who are disgusted by them?/END

Why accept the premise that gov't "provides" something called "education dollars?" Every dollar that gets spent on education comes from the taxpayers, even those who have no children, don't use the schools, etc. Right now, that money is ether, it's PRINTED from nothing too. 2/
So great...They have to let you take "education dollars" with you to the school of your choice, but guess what the SCOTUS didn't and can't define for you: how much that is, what a "school" is, what "education" is by gov't definition, etc. They still get to do that. 3/
I could spend all day critiquing Second Step, but let's just start with how they see the littlest of the children they want to affect (yes, "a-ffect" works too):
"Manage" their behavior? Even parents don't want to MANAGE our children's behavior, least of all at that age.1/
Priorities:
- Listen - to whom, about what, do you freakin' know?
- Pay attention - to whom, about what, and WHY?
- Manage their behavior - what does "manage" mean?
- Get along with others - define "get along with?"
You may assume you know what they mean, trust, me you don't.2/
Let's examine the next section, and the term "set up for success."
First, DEFINE "success?" Match yours does it?
Doubt it.
Next, question the premise that SEL is what they say it is, and that it's required for YOUR definition of "success."3/
Before you beg for school choice, PLEASE learn your state's existing laws regarding compulsory schooling! 1/ ecs.org/50-state-compa…
Step 2: learn your state laws regarding homeschooling here:hslda.org/legal
Once you know how much "choice" you already have (or don't have), THEN you can demand your STATE legislators get to work LIFTING restrictions, and making it easier for you to find options 3/
Stop asking gov't to PROVIDE the options, or to pay for them. Find those that already exist, support laws that make it possible for the MARKET to provide you with more, quality options at an affordable cost, and the "how will I pay for it" will be easier to answer. 4/
I'm not concerned the gov't is going to "ban" homeschooling. They likely won't. What they WILL do, what Republicans are helping them do, is FORCE GOVERNMENT SCHOOL on all of us, whether we're in their buildings, or not.
How, you ask? 1/
WELL, first we make rules about children's health. We add the C vax to the regular schedule, and make it nigh impossible to get a medical license for pediatrics without following the schedule (many states will comply without a fuss).2/
So whether you use the schools or not, you will have to choose between not having a pediatrician, and having one. Then we make rules about the treatment of "mental health" concerns in kids, and train up mandatory reporters in the new theories and ideology. 3/
Tell me how this isn't just another branch of the Democratic Party; lobbyists for Union and Democratic agenda items that solidify Democratic power, masquerading as something that cares about parents and kids.1/
Who are their sponsors? Let's take a look, shall we? 2/
Now when you attend this conference, you can participate in their "Hill Day Experience," and do lobbying up close with your lawmakers! Oh joy. Yes, this is perfectly legal, part of the process, blah blah, but I want you to really think about who benefits from their "Asks?" 3/
More than words, the ultimate crisis of this nation (a real effort to disarm Americans), will turn on whether people will respond. Watching people full of vim and vinegar fold like a bath towel at the Ritz during Covid wasn't very encouraging.1/
We need to remember the legacy of the first Civil Rights Movement: that passive resistance and civil disobedience by masses of people WORKS. But more importantly, that movement was for ALL people; not just black Americans! 2/
We have forgotten that, thanks to the branding and propaganda efforts of those who turned it into a black vs white only issue. People have forgotten Jim Crow laws forbade white people from voluntarily engaging with black people too.3/
