Over the next few weeks, as AP Exam scoring is completed for each subject, I’ll be tweeting the overall score distributions. Here's what to expect.

Because they include all students’ scores, these distributions should not be interpreted as the scores of any one teacher’s classroom. Many teachers will have score distributions significantly higher or lower than these total group results.

For each subject, I'll share if any students received all points possible on the exam, meaning they didn’t miss a single MC point, and every Reader gave perfect scores to all the student's essays/solutions, a feat some professors don’t achieve themselves when pretesting.

If any student achieves 100% of possible points on an AP Exam, we will notify that student and their school in mid-September once all other scoring and reporting timelines are complete.

I won’t know in advance exactly when I'll have any specific subject's results, so I won’t be able to respond to questions like, "When will you be posting AP Chemistry results?"

Once we have results for some but not all subjects, why can’t we proceed to share those subjects’ scores with students and educators? The AP Program needs to report scores for all AP subjects at the same time so the reports colleges receive contain all of a student’s AP scores.

Quick reminder: AP Exams aren’t graded on a curve – any student who earns the points required for an AP 2,3,4,5 gets that score, no matter how many students that is. So the grade distributions are different subject to subject, year to year, reflecting student gains in learning.

The 2022 score distributions in these posts include most exams and versions taken on the main testing day, but not the make-up tests. So when we publish the final distributions of all exams later in the year, they may be slightly different.
