! Chief Arredondo placed on administrative leave.
#Statement from Uvalde school superintendent
It’s pretty concerning that the school superintendent hasn’t been briefed by the DPS on the investigation. McCraw spent a lot of time yesterday before the committee raising serious issues with the schools doors, windows, just security overall.
Just looks at this door to get inside the school. McCraw making a point you can shoot these windows out or break it and then simply turn the door handle to get inside. It would seem security at all the schools in Uvalde would need to be reevaluated.
Likely outcome here if Arredondo doesn’t resign the school board will vote to have him removed.

Here we go. Mayor of Uvalde tonight at a city council meeting:

“ I'm gonna be throwing people under the bus tonight in a speech because for too long, we've been told we can't talk,  we can't answer, and we can't say anything. Today that's over with,” he said.
Mayor says DPS Colonel lied about the events that took place the day of the shooting
“This information again, turned out to be false. Then, on May the 27th Colonel McGraw did another press conference. Once again. Information was contradicted from the previous press conferences, causing more confusion as part of this data was false also.”

Uvalde update. We have it in writing.
Here’s the latest timeline that officials will be presenting at the senate hearing today.
This is the most extensive timeline we have had access to. Also and this is important for the first time we have information about radio transmissions. We have been asking for them and we now know why they’re so critical to understanding what was happening.
Actually doesn’t appear those are radio transmissions. So we still don’t have access to radio transmissions.

🧵Sat in on the heartbreaking school board meeting tonight. In some ways felt like a group therapy session with families getting together in a public way. One thing in common they want accountability.
Lilliana Garcia the daughter of Irma Garcia, the teacher who was killed, spoke about the magnitude of her loss after losing both parents. Her father Jose Garcia died of heart attack days later.
Lilliana spoke about her mother and her bravery saying “my mom died protecting her students, but who was protecting my mom.” She said it was preventable and that there was a “lack of due diligence.”

This is gut-wrenching —

Wounded Uvalde teacher spoke to ABC News:

"One of the students from the next-door classroom was saying, 'Officer, we're in here. We're in here,'" Reyes said. "But they had already left." abcnews.go.com/US/News/act-as…
Reyes say he heard police officers outside the classroom as a child in the next room called for help, he said, adding that he believes the officers had walked away at that point, having not heard the pleas.
The next time Reyes heard officers, they were telling Ramos to come out -- that they just wanted to talk and were not going to hurt him, Reyes said.
