A short thread on Lithuania, Kaliningrad and Russia. Russia attacks not when it is "provoked", but in an opposite case: when it feels stronger than the opponent, or (the best case for Russia) when it feels, the opponent is not willing to escalate. Any attempt to "deescalate".../1
...leads to immediate understanding in Kremlin, that their attack will be successful. Russia pushes so much and so deep, until it meets a resistance. After that, Russia stops and starts to "negotiate". Sometimes it even goes one or two steps back and calls it a "compromise".../2
...but effectively it always knows that it will continue to go further with next attacks as soon as the opponent will act weak. Don't mix the current situation with negotiations with the USSR in 1970s, when compromise was possible. The USSR was a declining power, looking for.../3
...being left in peace. Brezhnev wanted to preserve and save the territorial and political gains, not to get new lands. Putin's Russia is on the course of expansion. So they hit, take, stop, re-group, hit again. Now look at any case when Russia was hit back. Every time they.../4
...stopped and never returned. In Syria they tried to provoke Turkey with violations of its airspace. After Erdogan shot down 2 Russian jets, killing 2 pilots, Russians have threatened to ban Turkish vegetables (!) but have not done even that. Russians accepted new limits... /5
...because Russia always accepts the limits set by force. They never try to question force, but always love to attack those willing to find a "compromise". So the only good answer by the Nato now would be to: 1) clearly say: any Russian pressure will meet overproportional.../6
...response with military force. That means, every attempt to "check" our limits will be cut with force and end badly. We will not need to draw "red lines", as this is an invitation for looking for smth not covered by "red lines". Just say:"we will hit harder than proportional"/7
...2) in a case of any airspace violation or an attempt to set a naval blockade of the Baltic countries (the latter is already an act of aggression) we need to shot down Russian planes and sink Russian ships. And believe me - nothing bad will happen. Turkey and Ukraine did it /8
...and Russia did not nuke them or anything. You will see Russia will stop, cry "it is unfair!" and disappear, like they did it in a Russian-Turkish conflict. 3) My fear is, that Russian plan is to escalate to the end, when they have a direct military conflict with Baltic, but /9
...other Nato countries do not hurry for help. This would be the end of the Nato, as the only reason for many countries to be in the Nato is the security guarantees. If let me say Germany just says "we need time", and France say the same, 10 countries can leave Nato that day../10
...Actually, I am sure, this is a master plan of Russians they had in the drawer since years, and wanted to implement it. The resistance in Ukraine has postponed this plan, but Russians never abandon fancy plans. So I am sure they will try to do it. In this case... /11
...It is important what Finland and Sweden will do. My guess is, they will help Lithuania, or Latvia and Estonia much faster and more willingly than other countries. Because they understand now, that only a collective security is what can stop Russia, and if they do not... /12
...intervene, they will be the next, and as Nato support for Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia was not sufficient, the support for Nato candidates will be even smaller. So it will be in their interests to help Baltic countries. Overall, I am sure, that Russia will lose this conflict /13
...exactly as it loses its war in Ukraine now. The question is - how fast, with what costs and with what damage to our intra-Nato and intra-EU relations and the level of multilateral trust. It is in our interests to push Russia back fast, effectively and decisive. END.

THREAD There are many proofs that modern Russia is a fascist state, from a view of political scientist. But let us look today at some visual details which can be found at least tasteless. Russia utilises a lot of Nazi propaganda images today. Look at this anti-Ukrainian poster /1
The modern Russian poster "Our brotherhood is stronger than (their) lie" is copies a Nazi poster from early 1930s, calling to vote for the National-Socialist Workers' Party. Instead of France and Jews, who are opposing the German worker, Ukrainian Jews are "threatening" Donbas /2
Is this usage of a Nazi image an exemption? One can clear see: the designer new what poster he uses, as a lot of details needed to be re-designed. Well, no coincidence here. Russia LOVES Nazi propaganda. Look at this pic of Russian Social Security web-page and a Nazi poster: /3

A mini THREAD Many publish angry tweets about Russian ex-DeputyPM and now Head of Space Agency Dmitry Rogozin's tweets, where he calls to wipe out Ukraine once and forever, and praises Serbian war criminals Karajic and Mladic. This shows, how little the West know about RU leaders
The trick is, that Rogozin was always a pure, crystal-clear Nazi. Not a "far right", not a "radical", but a Russian Nazi. And not, this was not "sins of the youth". Hear a very adult Rogozin holds a speech in Moscow center under a Swastika banner of RNE, Russian National Unity /2
Just imagine. This guy oversees the whole Russian space program (recently RosKosmos has confirmed, that it is not only a science-and-peace corporation, but produces all Russian ICBMs). A former Deputy Prime Mister. And he is a NAZI. Nuclear Nazi. /3

THREAD Let's start a long thread about how Russian book market prepared Russians for a full-scale war against Ukraine, NATO, the West, and promoted stalinism and nazism, and how this was ignored by the West. Keep seat belts fasten, you will see a lot of nasty things here. Image
One of the first indicators of Russia preparing for a full-scale turn to dictatorship and a global war was the mass production of books about cool sides of Stalin and Stalinism and about upcoming war against the West. These books appeared on Russian bookshelves in early 2010s /2
The appearance was so massive that it could not be a coincidence on a book market which was under a strict control of secret police FSB. "Be proud, not sorry! Truth about Stalin Age" "Stalinist's Handbook", "Stalin's Repressions: A Great Lie" and "Beria: Best XX Cent Manager" /3 ImageImageImageImage

A remark on the level of naivity of Germany's Russia policy. In later 2021, new German coalition adopted its coalitions treaty, promising visa-free travels for young Russians under 25, as they believed, this will help to promote democracy. Every rapist in Bucha was under 25.
Back than, in November 2021, I wrote a whole thread on the problems in Russian and Ukraine parts of this Treaty. I was severely criticised as a person who does not obviously understand basic facts. The reality demonstrated, I was right - unfortunately.
A side remark: I really cannot understand why "young" is so commonly used as "progressive" or "pro-democratic". Adolf Hitler was just 43 as he took power, and Konrad Adenauer was extremely old: 73 y.o.! - as he was elected as a chancellor.

THREAD “Russia will not attack the West because Moscow was not capable to occupy Ukraine” is a very wrong + illogical statement. Let me explain why
1) Russian state is switched into its war mode. It is not a short-term military operation, it is a permanent war what Russians live;
2) Since Chechen wars in 1994-2009, Russia was involved in at least 3 wars: Georgia, Syria, Ukraine. Out of these three, every next one was more bloody and brutal, what is logical: barriers for violence have fallen in Russian society. Russians are not expecting a fast victory now
3) The Russian concept of aggressive wars is extremely colonial. From the Russian perspective, it is logical to send “subhumans” to die on front. In the current war, we see ethnic minorities over-represented among Russian troops. Their losses pro 100,000 are sometimes 100x higher

Many people urge (until now!) for a "deal" with Putin. Let's have a look on his promises. On Aug 28th 2008, after Russian attack on Georgia, Putin gave his interview to Germany's biggest TV channel ARD and said very clear, Russia recognises Ukrainian borders incl. Crimea. /1
As one clear sees in this interview, Putin aggressively denies any ideas about Russian plans to annex Crimea or attack Ukraine in another way. He literally says to a journalist, that Georgia is an emergency case, and Russia will stop after gaining control over S.Ossetia. /2
Actually, "this is my last conquest, I'll stop now" is the most popular lie among aggressive people - not only dictators, but also abusers, thieves, blackmailers. Adolf Hilter promised the West "to stop" many times: in AUT and CZE. Putin repeatedly used this lie too, watch: /3
