TW (trauma) It was the image which prompted me to look at @MSF relationship with @MagnumPhotos which consists imho of exploiting their patients and telling the world how heroic each other are.
60 days later the archive is all still up. For sale. Stock thumbs grabbed today.
Many people who have worked for MSF told me the org was incapable of doing the right thing. That MSF is cynically run and structurally racist.
Typical white guy. I did not want to believe them.
But look at the images. For sale today. Really look.
The idea that the people who have facilitated the exploitation of some of the worlds most vulnerable people can be trusted to do the right thing is dangerous.
They cannot.
It's just allowing abusers to cover up their abuse.
.@MSF cannot even be trusted to make their own statement on this visible. It's hidden on their website and they refuse to share it on their public feeds.
Instead they spent yesterday telling the world 'our actions are guided by medical ethics'.
FYI the day @MSF announce a independent review with the terms of that review, who is conducting it, timescales, commitment to publish it and implement than I will delete all of these images.
And the hundreds more I have.
Until then I will try and prick their conscience.
@MSF@hmryder FYI and not unrelated to your important work. Please read through the above thread. 👆 (warning very graphic/upsetting images but necessary to understand scale of the exploitation). THANKS.
'Saying sorry and promising to never do it again would not be good enough for Western victims and it should be the same for people everywhere else.' @KennethMSweeney
For the anyone who had the stomach to get to the end of this thread here are the quite simple things I'm asking @MSF and all humanitarian orgs to have in place in relation to photography and child protection.
'The whole business model of MSF is based on selling human misery, which is a part of its colonial heritage. As long as this business model remains the same, we will continue to steal the dignity from patients in the name of funding operations.'
And at it's very worst @CIWEM_EPOTY thought it OK to promote on Instashite a photo of a traumatised woman, clearly trying to hide her face from the camera, stood in the ashes of her home that JUST burned down, killing her child.
Death to these kinds of photo comps can't come fast enough for the people featured imho BUT 👏👏👏 to @CIWEM_EPOTY they took the kicking, which would have been extremely unpleasant, and did something positive about it.
20 days ago they crossed the border.
1 night in Hungary.
1 night in Germany.
1 night in Switzerland.
On the move, not stopping.
I joined them in France to support them and help with visas to come to the UK, to be with us.
In Paris I sat at the table at 1.30am, in the small one bed apartment, 6 of them asleep in front of me, making their visa applications, trying to work out how to wake them and tell them the grandmother was not, according to the forms, part of the family.
Ten days after the images were removed from Opensea @fellowshiptrust still are promoting the 10k August Sander drop on their twitter header ... leading to 'This Page Is Lost'.
Reminder. The sale generated over $1000000.
10 days.
It's not clear why @opensea removed the images because @fellowshiptrust refuse to answer the question.
But it is true the estate was sold in 1992 to Cultural Foundation of the Stadtsparkasse Cologne, by Gerd Sander.
In the absence of honest answers I'm left thinking that the 10000 August Sander images marketed and/or sold by @halecar2@G_Halpy@fellowshiptrust have been removed from @opensea cause they never had the right to sell them in the first place.
