I knew a young (white) women who got pregnant and decided to explore adoption as a possible choice. She said the agency was *excited* to see her. Early in the conversation the “consultant” said that they would have many families for her to choose from for her
baby. Long story short, the young woman divulged that the father of the baby was not white and the agency’s tune changed immediately. If it was a girl, they “might” be able to place the baby, but if it was a boy it would more then likely go to foster care when he was born.
Understand this is where we are headed. Anti-choice voices will have you think their is an overly simple answer to complicated questions. Overturning Roe v Wade disproportionately effects BIPOC and those living below the poverty line. So we will now be subjecting an entire
generation to the foster care system without remotely adequate supports to care for them. (Especially young black boys). Some say our system(s) are broken, but frankly they are working exactly how they were intended. Keep power in the hands of the powerful and choke back the rise
of any other (at all costs). Until we fund universal healthcare, universal pre-k, expanded/robust, foster care system and adoption services, mental health services for mothers, comprehensive sex education, paid maternal and family leave etc.
You aren’t pro-life, you are pro-control, pro-forced birth and pro-status quo because it serves you. #RoeVsWade
