From my memory of what I learned from my father on ISRO and @NambiNOfficial

The day the news came out in Kerala Newspapers calling NN a traitor, my father said a person like him can never be a traitor. Something with that name too.

Political vendetta and CIA behind this.

1. Rajiv Gandhi wanted India to develop cryogenic engines in India. CIA as expected said no.

They didn't leave it at that. When Russia was willing to help India, CIA wanted to ensure this did not happen.

2. Antony and Ummen Chandy were conspiring against K Karunakaran, the last

Hindu Chief Minister of Kerala. They used State Police for their nefarious plan.

What CIA orchestrated through their assets and State Police became a good plot for Antony-UC league to bring KK down.

Mariam Rasheeda, known to be a CIA agent later on was brought in from

Mali Dweep, and attempts of honey trapping happened. Fauzia Hassan is another name I remember from those times.

Newspaper started media trial and went berserk with spy thrillers.

Initially, these women were told to be Russian spies (clearly CIA strategy) then later slowly

their Pak connections emerged.

The two women with no apparent shame started unfolding an extremely imaginary story of how close they were to NN who was the key person in the Cryogenic work.

A few days later, their connections were more aligned to the State Police, not NN.

If my memory is right, two Police IGs themselves were involved in setting the plot as per the court's observation.

Media who are celebrating NN today were ruthless tabloids then against both NN and KK.

In a few months, KK had to resign in shame as the two IGs were close to him,

the CM of the state, were suspected to be involved in this plot.

I am not sure how Malayalees drank this political wine as IGs always operate closely with any State Chief Minister.

Is that a reason for targeting the CM?

Until KK died, this conspiracy was never exposed.

This was only in the minds of a few people who refused to believe the politicians, the police and the media.

Primarily because one person - Kalam - stood with NN and ISRO refused to suspend NN on these faceless charges.

I remember most people started disbelieving these

colourful stories the media fed us.

People also started asking questions of where the Cryogenic engine was.

If ISRO 'traitors' were in a position to sell the technology to other countries such as Pak, then the engine should have been ready in India.

Where was it? For another decade or more, we kept debating this. By then the masses shifted their support to NN.

My father diligently wrote to newspapers asking them to play their role in getting NN released.

Truth known today is, two low level assets of CIA could not have

pulled this on a country like India without the support of politicians and police.

We lost the golden years of a brilliant scientist. As my father foretold, Sadhu Shāpa befell on every low beings involved.

Antony fell out of grace.

So did Ummen Chandy - his destruction was also by another woman. UC will never come back to power.

In fact the very party Congress will never come back.
