The men forcing pregnancy on women fully understand that women raising children are less likely to show up in the workplace, in politics, in any place where they can challenge the power of conservative white men.
Overturning Roe v. Wade is designed to suppress women’s political, educational and professional agency. “Keep them barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen” was never a joke. It’s been the political strategy of conservative men for generations.
White, male and christian supremacists all seek to guarantee that women's first and only role is to service men/reproduce. This agenda for controlling women is what Republicans are codifying into law in Texas, Louisiana and dozens of other states. #BlueWave2022

Easily half of American men are male supremacists. Some would be reactive to hear themselves described as such, but their inactivity on behalf of women's rights tells the true story of where they are. /END
For those few in my mentions refusing to get the term “forced pregnancy.” It means being forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term because abortion has been made a felony. Criminalizing abortion results in forcing women to remain pregnant and give birth; forced pregnancy.
Passing this on: If we want a Blue Wave in November we need to expand the electorate. Not much time. These organizations do just that. Check out spreadthevote.org (helps obtain government issued photo IDs in certain states that require them).

Twice over the course of my life, women I was in a relationship with got unintentionally pregnant. In each case, these women chose to terminate their pregnancies. I was in support of those women’s decisions at the time and I’m still in support of them. Image
Millions of men have stories exactly like mine but they never share them, leaving women on their own to tell how abortion services helped them.
I’m not ashamed to say I am deeply grateful for the help safe reliable abortion services provided in my life.

Men who support forced pregnancy, support rape culture. That’s who these men are.
The modern GOP is a weaponized product of our dominance-based male supremacist culture of masculinity. Republican men debase, control, dominate and rape women as the central method for validating their masculinity. Overturning Roe v Wade will kill women. That’s a win for GOP men.
Woman and girls are now being forced to bring unwanted pregnancies to term. Forcing women to do so is an act of right wing extremist violence, equal to that of committing rape. If you can condone forced pregnancy, you can and will also condone rape as mens’ justified right.

Good luck universities in red states. There is no way in hell my child will attend college in a state where an unwanted pregnancy makes a women a criminal to be tracked, hounded, and arrested. #BlueWave2022
Red state universities are now simply too dangerous for women. That includes professors and staff.
From 2016: “Illinois still sends the most out-of-state students to Ohio State University, but New York is fast approaching.
Both states saw growth in enrolled students from a year ago, part of a record amount of out-of-state and international students flocking to the university.” Image

THREAD: Boys are bullied in dominance-based masculine culture to understand that dominance requires controlling all aspects of interactions. Blocking language like patriarchy, and by extension, the larger dialogues it gives rise to, is born out of fear of loss of power. /1
Men understand what it means to be bullied. It is the coin of the realm in dominance-based masculine culture. We know we are in a system that rewards men for creating power over others. When a man tells a woman he doesn’t want an open conversation about that, it’s a red flag /2
A man who refuses to talk about terms like patriarchy or misogyny wants to limit all conversations to spaces in which he has the advantage (power over). It’s not about “truth.” Truth is the open honest exploration of what both parties define as relevant. It’s about power. /3

Why are men committing gun violence? We bully little boys out of authentic expression/connection and into violent dominance-based masculinity. We break their healthy connection in the world and then teach them that dominating others is the only way to validate their manhood. /1
@niobe_way calls it a “crisis of connection.” She documents how we do this to boys in her book Deep Secrets. Judy Chu documents this breaking of connection in Pre-K boys (When Boys Become Boys.) It leaves boys and men doubling down on dominance as their only coping mechanism. /2
We have a crisis of connection for boys and men, many of whom will continue to signal dominance over others because we have no authentic male friendships where we can show up as our full selves. Ask most men. We’ll tell you. We feel alone. The friendships we need long gone. /3

THREAD: If we care about diversity, equity and inclusion, then we must pay close attention to how the GOP is normalizing openly white supremacist language. It is a war on diversity. /1
I have little doubt that US Senator Cassidy's safe Louisiana Senate seat made him a perfect candidate for national level GOP consultants to focus group the following statement and test it on the national stage. Lessons are being learned about how to normalize white supremacy. /2
Speaking to Politico, Senator Cassidy said: "About a third of our population is African American; African Americans have a higher incidence of maternal mortality. So, if you correct our population for race, we’re not as much of an outlier as it’d otherwise appear." /3
