I spoke to a “Director of Harm Reduction” at one of the BIG nonprofits the other day.

This person told me that by handing out foil/pipes/straws, they were making “connections and engagement”.

He was explaining to me how his sole source/no bid contract program would work
A few tidbits from our conversation:

First, he explained to me how when I was out running the streets, What I really needed was someone to provide “harm reduction techniques” to help me.
I thanked him for reinventing MY life experience & explained that all I needed was what I got~@ACSOSheriffs gracious offer of jail/treatment.

Dude,(NOT in recovery) I woulda grabbed that pipe and appeased you all day as long as I could get high and you where providing the tools
I explained my daughter’s struggles out on the streets of #SanFrancisco and asked how this person would feel if they handed my kid some foil and she used that to smoke #fentanyl and OD’ed.

“I didn’t buy the drugs” said harm reductionist 🤬
The next words that came out of this mouth are 🤯

“If my daughter was sucking some guys d!ck for crack, I would use harm reduction techniques and not shame her”

FYI~ I DON’T SHAME MY DAUGHTER ASSH@LE

BUT……
My reply to my Director of Harm Reduction:

“My technique would be to take a baseball bat to the guys head and drag her ass home”.

I guess we have different parenting styles 🤷‍♀️
The Radical Harm Reduction being used in #SanFrancisco is not changing the devastation and death on the streets.

At what point do we start recognizing that helping someone MAINTAIN their destructive behavior is NOT OK?

SAN FRANCISCO ~ YOU ARE IN REAL CRISIS.

ACT LIKE IT!
FYI SF ~ I’m Pretty sure your tax dollars pay this Director. And pay for the foil, pipes, straws and “connections”.

STAND UP! SPEAK OUT! ASK QUESTIONS!

DEMAND MEASURABLE OUTCOMES FROM THESE PROGRAMS!
Oh….one last thing:

I asked if they would stand WITH us and call for an end to the OPEN DRUG MARKET

Nope…The dealers are “marginalized” and if you arrest one another will just fill that place.

And of course…that war on drugs thing. 🙄

The more time my daughter is away from drugs and her addiction (6 months), the more she starts to open up to me.

My latest conversation with her, which I share with her permission, is not only heartbreaking, but infuriating.
She shared this today:

Last year, she was living in an all women SLE and was working toward creating a better life for herself. She had 3 months of sobriety.

Sam got Covid and at that time, protocol was to send people living in SLE’s to a Project Room Key Motel.
What my daughter experienced in that Project Room Key motel is horrific.

“Mom, there were drugs everywhere. People up all night screaming and fighting. Prostitutes and pimps would be walking in the halls. It was bad.”

She relapsed in that Project Room Key motel in Oakland.

I think more people need to understand what these Open Drug Markets/Scenes REALLY are.

These are not people simply “down on their luck”. We are talking about people IN CRISIS with severe drug addiction and mental illness.

Literally surrounded by drug dealers peddling death.
These open drug scenes are VIOLENT.

Citizens are being traumatized by the crime/health hazards/ death that comes with these scenes.

Beatings and rapes occur on a regular basis.

Addicts suffering with no hope or help from their city and state leaders.
If you are lucky enough to escape these Open Drug Scenes, the trauma will most likely last a lifetime.

My daughter’s testimony would bring you to your knees.

I have asked @GavinNewsom to listen to us and take steps to SHUT DOWN THE OPEN DRUG MARKETS.

Silence from @CAgovernor
