Visa Waiver Program requires reciprocity. Israel has historically-and continues today-to discriminate against Arab Americans, including Palestinian Americans, trying to enter. It degrades us or detains us or even denies us entry. #NoWaiver4Israel
Here is a letter we sent @SecBlinken last week reminding him reciprocity is at the heart of the Visa Waiver Program and Israel's discrimination against our community means they DO NOT qualify. Protect the rights of Americans. #NoWaiver4Israel

The poll was conducted the day the ceasefire was declared on May 20. @jjz1600: For first time, Americans who identify as Democrats view Palestinians more favorably than they do Israelis.
When asked if Biden Administration should favor Israelis or Palestinians, overall, 46% say a balanced policy is best. Among Democrats, that number is 54%.

THREAD: Let’s talk about the incidents of antisemitism we are seeing right now.
A key part of our work is combatting #hatecrime, specifically by strengthening hate crime laws and improving data collection. In addition to the immeasurable harm done to individuals and their families, hate crimes devastate entire communities.
Despite a well-documented problem of significant underreporting, federal hate crime data does help us understand trends.

Today, August 12, is a day forever engrained in the memories of Susan Bro and Haifa Jabara. Their children, #KhalidJabara and #HeatherHeyer, were murdered in hate crimes on the same day, one year apart. Our thoughts are with both families on this difficult day.
As @SusanBro7 and Haifa Jabara wrote last year: "As any mother who has lost a child knows, there are no words to adequately convey the sense of loss & pain."

They are united by more than grief & shared anniversary. Khalid & Heather's murders were not reflected in hate crime data. Both were high profile #hatecrimes & prosecuted as such. Yet they weren’t included in the federal govt’s count of hate crime data.

Let's set the landscape: According to @FBI, hate crime incidents surged 17% in 2017, the most recent year of available data. This was the greatest & 1st successive 3-yr increase since post-9/11 backlash against Arab American, American Muslim, & South Asian American communities.
Contributing to this surge was a 37% increase of Anti-Jewish hate crime, an overwhelming number of Anti-Black or African American hate crime, a 100% increase of Anti-Arab hate crime, and Anti-Muslim hate crime numbers remaining well above historical averages.
