prep hack:
A lighter should be part of your EDC (w/ a knife, light, bandana & self defense)
If you get caught out overnight build the biggest pile of dry leaves that you can. 4 feet is better than 3 but 6 is better still. Shimmy into the middle. It’ll be 30-40 degrees warmer

If you need to stay on the move cut enough shoelace off to bind the cuffs of your pants at the ankles & stuff as much dry leaf/grass/duff that you can cram down each leg & do likewise to your shirt. You’re creating pockets for your body to warm.

If you are awesome,mega-smart cuz you read my tweets, & remember what I taught you but get caught out freezing & have that contractors bag: cut out a slit for your face & crouch over a tea candle. It’ll warm you up 20+ degrees like Jiffy Pop (that’s partially why they’re in kits)
if you have nothing but 1 or 2 contractors bags you can fill one w/ leaves/duff to make a mattress (get OFF the freezing ground) & fill another w/ the same duff & shimmy in like a sleeping bag 🥶People have died of hypothermia w/ these in their car 🤷🏼♂️ 🤦🏼♂️
